You won't find me defending ND at all. This is only about Florida State being .500 with no quality wins and retaining their perennial crown of being the most overrated team around. Florida State being overrated year after year isn't my opinion... go check the links I posted.

Arkansas
Virginia Tech
Georgia Tech
Texas
USC

I'm not a very big fan of Nebraska, South Carolina, or West Virginia but you could make a case for them. And then you have teams like Baylor that I think are worse than FSU but have better resumes right now/have accomplished more on the field.

So now your the expert and have watched all of those teams play their first three games and have analyzed the tape. Must be nice to have that much time on your hands. haha

Sure. Right now the only difference between ND and FSU is that:

1. We came into the season ranked about 10 spots lower.
2. We have wins over a ranked team (MSU was #15, Big Ten defending champ and is still ranked in the coaches poll and will be back in the AP poll this week I'm sure) and a BCS team whereas FSU has wins over Charleston Southern and Louisiana-Monroe.
3. We have worse losses than FSU (USF ranked ~#18 and Michigan ranked ~#22 versus #1 Oklahoma and ~#21 Clemson).

So yeah, there are tons of similarities. That doesn't mean Florida State wasn't incredibly overrated at #5. And that doesn't mean I'm defending Notre Dame at all.

It just shocks me that they are the most overrated team of the past decade (see the links I posted) and yet people still give them the benefit of the doubt.

Why don't you specifically point out where you disagree and make your case? Which of those teams would you put behind FSU and why?

No way we are ranked Nor should we be. We have to play ALOT better before anyone should vote for us.

Florida State should sky rocket all the way out of the rankings. But they'll slip in at 22 which is sad for all the reasons pointed out.

Your arguments for teams are the same arguments you are making against FSU.

Umm... I said I don't like West Virginia? What exactly is your point there?

Literally all of the teams you just listed are ones I said were not clearly better than FSU. So yeah.... after last night I'd drop USC out of the "maybe on a neutral field" category because Matt Barkley and their OL/DL were disappointing... and that's about it.

Don't get me wrong, I respect your opinion on here, but I think it is a bit premature to call FSU vastly overrated. Sure they were overrated, I thought they were at the beginning of the season, but they are still a very good football team.

VTech last year lost to Boise St and then a D2 school and ended up running the table and ended up in a BCS. Sure they got trounced by Stanford but everyone in the country thought they earned to be there. I am just saying FSU still has a shot of going to a BCS after a rough start.

I think we can agree on all of that, especially the parts I bolded. I don't think Florida State "sucks;" although I'm sure it comes off that way in my posting. I just think it was crazy that pollsters gave them more props than Andrew Luck-led Stanford in the pre-season when that Stanford team destroyed the ACC champs in a bowl game (who had, in turn, beat FSU solidly in the ACC championship game).

I want to see them beat someone good before they get so much benefit of the doubt. Remember, by the numbers, they are the most overrated team of the past decade and also playing in the most overrated conference.

NC State
Boston College
Miami
Virginia

The good news? Clemson is on their side of the conference so if Clemson can just beat either VT or Georgia Tech and hold serve against UNC + the baddies they'll win the head to head tiebreaker and keep FSU out of the ACC championship game. It is crazy how much tougher the Clemson in conference schedule is than FSU's.

The crap Notre Dame has to take and then stuff like this-Fla State and everyone else who play the first few games that are just ridiculous then get their hats handed to them when they play equal teams. Its OK by me because pretty soon Notre Dame will give them no room to bash. Kelly has done alot already. My only sidelight comment is now you see what Weis would have done with a defense. Bash Big Charlie all you want when the dust clears this year they're going to win alot of games. Maybe even against Ala. As far as Clemson goes they're not deciplined enough or smart enough to win as many games as people now think they will. I bet they lose 3 games minimum.

FYI they are losing right now to Wake Forest with 8 left in the 2nd Q. Doubt the score holds up, but I still do not understand how this team is ranked at 2-2.

Interesting if FSU is overhyped, or Wake is a little better than we thought. Maybe both.

First and goal for Wake Forest on the FSU 3 yard line. Watching the game on Fox now that the OU-Texas game is a total blowout. FSU looks so bad right now.

EDIT: Annnnnnnnnd touchdown Wake Forest. FSU has no discipline and their DL is totally overrated. They may still come back and win this game, but wow their offense is anemic and their D can't even stop the Wake Forest attack.
