You guys seriously think UM are better than MSU

No, not at all. But it's all about the matchups.

Michigan relies solely on speed right now. Notre Dame did extremely well for three quarters but then the bottom fell out. Denard wins every matchup against the front seven and in my opinion running laterally with a guy so damn quick is Notre Dame's weakness. That said I actually thought Notre Dame did better against the run than I would have thought. Everything Denard did he pulled out of his *** for the most part--but that is sorta his style against the Irish.

Michigan State is Wisconsin Lite. They will line up and run at you with their backs. When is the last time a team had running success against the Irish that didn't come from the quarterback being a freak? Notre Dame has literally shut down the rushing attacks of USF, Miami, USC, Army, Utah, Tulsa, etc. It's a tall order to get a push on this big, big DL. Cousins is a better passer than Robinson, and while he can move, he is no Robinson in that department. Pressure will have a bigger impact.

Notre Dame cannot turn the ball over though. But we've heard that one before.

Michigan State is so much better than either of the not great teams we've gift wrapped games to so far.

The whole season (and recruiting class) basically hinges on this game. Win and we can actually get up to 4-2 heading into the USC game (which I am now terrified of thanks to Gary Gray). Lose it and you start seeing the first decommits.

cousins will embarrass gray all game long. there isn't another option at corner for us? it can't be any worse.

Gray had a AWFUL game last night. No one feels as bad as he does. But he has been solid more often than not. He came back for a fifth yr to help this team. Let's not jump on the kid. I bet he comes back and plays a solid game, much like the other Gray on the team did.

I can see us winning this game. I can also see us getting rolled. I think it will be similar to 2009. We made 2 clutch plays at the end (Tate TD and McCarthy INT). Could happen again.... Might not. I bet they come out pissed off and ready to fight though...

They have to know their season is on the line. Win and they have a serious shot to reel off several wins in a row, possibly getting to 4-2 for their USC night game. Lose and you have to wonder about the team's psyche at that point

Michigan State 37 Notre Dame 20

That was a similar score to what you predicted for yesterday right? Which means ND will probably lose on the last play and agonizing fashion. And I will be there. Thanks man.

This is where the turnaround happens. I was skeptical of beating UM because of Denard. We don't have the athletes that can stop Denard for 4 quarters. I blame that on Weis for being a terrible D recruiter. Funky bounces like Denard TD on the fumble or the Rees butterfingers throw. Frustrating because they should be 2-0 with 2 dominant wins but it's just the opposite. Turnovers, simple enough. Limit them.

A strong, turn a season around win comes this week.

Let me pose a question to this board. Say ND starts with Buffalo and Maine, like Pitt did (I hate Pitt FYI). They have the exact same stats as the first 2 games. Same yards, same turnovers, but they win both games, and probably rather comfortably, b/c of the competition. How would you feel going into the MSU game? Personally I think the attitude would be completely different. People would be pumped and like our chances against MSU. Most would say we need to clean up the mistakes but love our chances. But because we played teams good enough to capitalize on those mistakes, the sky is falling.

Thoughts?

I'm thinking ND is going to be up in the last minute and MSU will have no timeouts. Rees will attempt to kneel the ball, fumble the snap, and get returned for a TD. That seems one excruciating way to lose that they have not done yet.

Michigan's receiving core is very fast and talented.

Michigan State's receiving corp begins and ends with BJ Cunningham.

Diaco will double Cunningham, no doubt.

A running qb gives us problems thats why we had to keep running man across the board and couldnt let our d line get after denard too hard or call many blitz's. I think with cousins and his decent o line we have a good shot to get in his face and cause some problems. He has the tendency to make some bad throws if we can put the pressure on, if we do that and limit turnovers we win.

Likely scenario for next week.

MSU will rip our johnsons off, stomp on them and then shove 'em down our throat.

Have we played anyone? I get that USF was decent but pretty sure that Michigan team we just lost to was terrible. At least MSU is beating its opponents. Not to mention blowing them out.

We played teams from 2 BCS conferences. They played Youngstown St and FAU. Please dont compare the 2, its not close.

headed down this weekend. skipping school friday and leaving that morning to take a college visit at (hopefully!) my future school, staying overnight, and going to the game on saturday.

i really hope we don't lose this weekend. 0-3 would be the final nail in our BCS coffin. i'm also nervous to see what the atmosphere is like. if it's usually quiet there, what will it be like for an 0-2 team? straight up embarrassingly quiet? stay tuned...

Ummm NDOM might be laughing all the way to the bank. We opened as 3.5 favorites and now it is up to 5.

I. Don't. Get. It.
