Those look pretty sweet. Too bad they suck to run in. I've worn (an older model of) the pair on the right.... absolute trash. Football cleats are the one area where Nike makes superior gear to Adidas.

No cleat will ever compare to the Nike Air Zoom Apocalypse 3.

Would you explain the difference between premier, authentic, and replica jerseys, Eric?

I'm struggling to see how a jersey can be "authentic" when our players are wearing Spandex (techfit) and the bookstore is selling Rayon.

Yeah that's what I'm saying, the authentic blue jerseys Notre Dame sells are not really "authentic" in the sense that it is 100% exactly what the players wear.

Pre-TECHFIT the current authentic jersey was pretty close to what the team was wearing early in the fall, but there are tiny differences, mostly with how the sleeves are cut.

The replica jerseys that are for sale are pretty bad in my opinion. Below the shoulders they are that meshy material with the player number painted on or however they do it. The shoulders are that shiny material with the numbers screen printed on. The collars are very basic and have no flavor to them, especially since Adidas introduced a rather unique looking collar last year.

The premier jerseys are kind of like the authentics, but the difference being they are just not quite as well made. They have the correct collar that Adidas introduced and the numbers are sewn on or "appliqued" as I don't think they sew stuff on anymore.

I feel kind of stupid for buying the authentic last year, since it's twice as much as the premier and really the same jersey.

It's also heavy as hell. Seriously, it feels like a coat when I put it on for games.

they are, but that looks like a new photo of them, and in HD. Very nice, who is that wearing them?

People dressed in plastic bags
Directing traffic
Some kind of fashion

I sit and watch as tears go by ...

Bold. A daring, topsy-turvy twist on the tiresome haiku tripe!

Will the gloves ensure pass completions or open field tackles?

Or will they simply generate sales and royalties?

I've always only bought Adidas shoes in any sport I ever played or coached in. I used the blind test, and always felt better in Adidas. I used to like Puma. I think they are making a bit of a comeback.

Regarding the gloves and shoes, is there really a current trend to look like clowns in order to attract athletes and win games? I think Nike has raised the bar into clown gear, and Adidas, the better shoe company, is trying to catch up to the silliness. What's next, top hat and coat tails with glitter?

Just my opinion.

^ Maybe it's more the fans and shoppers that will it. Methinks recruits just want to knock heads under a good program. Let the prima donnas go to fashion school.

Well the players are loving them like crazy.

And the gloves and cleats won't be sold to the public so....

Well that's fine. The game is about them. Why won't they be sold to public? It makes more sense for those obnoxious gloves and shoes to be sold to fans than to have your football team look like clowns

Yes, yes...in fact that is exactly what is next.

Notre Dame can't have nice things. Because if we do, we have to think about the most dreadful (and ridiculous) path that will lead us down. And from experience, we KNOW this will happen.

They won't be sold to the public probably because they are super new and Adidas likely had no intention of selling something so fresh and rare. I could see them selling a good amount of the gloves, but not many people are about to buy spikes.

These products are obnoxious and make the team look like clowns?

Interesting opinion.

Someone on here was saying how the Fighting Irish name and leprechaun was stupid and that Mary should be used as a logo or whatever. Was that you, Neutered?

Nope. I never said any of what you just asked. I have said that I favor ND logo over shamrock or leprechaun.

Don't put words in my mouth. It's all in writing on the forum. Look it up.

Yeah, I played at this Indiana University from 1988 until 1990. Then a little bit in the CFL and NFL.

Wow.

I totally forgot about this thread, I guess since we were private messaging. To be honest, I actually like both ND and UM unis. I am not so keen on the gloves.

But regarding my "clown" statement, I had fully in mind one of the opening games of last season, Boise St. vs. I don't remember. All summer, folks were posting new uni pics for teams by Nike and Adidas. Well, watching the Boise St. game, I was so distracted by the glitz and glitter of both teams unis that it hurt my eyes. :)

I really did like the new Boise St. helmets though. They should keep those.

Hey does anyone else think that the helmets looked so much better last week or was it just me?

Are these unis "throwbacks" in the sense that Addidas wanted to make them look retro/oldschool, or have these uniforms been worn at some point in NDs history?

Anybody?

Very cool.
I hope these become our special "green" road jersey to be worn once a year along with the green "home" at our neutral site game.
Wish they kept the all black shoe though.
I've got an all black shoe complex.... it's all I buy.
