I woulndt say there DL is very good because they couldn't get a pass rush until they started sending extra men.

Does anybody think Michigan will be ranked going into this game? I hope so. I'm expecting us to fall to the bottom or drop completely out.

On a side note, nobody's really talking about Rees's production. The guy almost had 300 yards in a half. That's pretty amazing. It'll be very interesting to see who BK goes with.

All that while they knew he was going to throw.. With an established ground game Rees will produce even more.

I know this isn't thread-related, but if Rees gets the start and is our QB for the year, Crist probably won't be granted a 5th year. Something I personally thought was a lock. But no sense in speculating, just thought I'd bring it up. He could very well be our starter next saturday and if he is, I expect him to play well.

I think with the young guys coming along, we could see a scenario that if Tommy gets banged up for whatever reason, Dayne could come in and Play well. I think everyone was shocked that Dayne struggled the way he did, but it is one game of a 12 game season. So much could happen between now and Stanford. Trust me, after the game I was long jumping to conclusions and searching for answers anywhere I could find them. Now, on the day after, I feel a little better about the direction of the program. 5 turnovers and 500 yards offense. I can say that all but Jonas fumble were preventable. That sick feeling we had yesterday is all sitting in the stomachs of the Irish players and coaching staff. I think we will see a really edgy Irish squad in Ann Arbor.

On the NBC post game show last night, they said Michigan's DLine is very good, will be hard to run on and can pressure the QB.

Our D played a good game but we didn't seem to create much pressure in the backfield.

They played Western Michigan.

Notre Dame is a 1.5 point favorite over Michigan.

In the spring this was UM -2, it swung to ND -3.

How could we be favored unless Michigan really wasn't that impressive. Maybe they see how much potential we have if we cut down the turnovers

I just think the team needs to play with a chip on its shoulder. That starts with being "disrespected" as the underdog. They have not earned the right the be favored in this game.

A Chip? I would want them to play with the whole bag on their shoulder.

I think we are a better team than Michigan but I don't think we should be favored either

Forget the bag I want them to play like someone from the skunk bears just broke their sisters heart.

From a UM board:

Folanator wrote: Living in Cincinnati, I have watched his antics on the UC sidelines before. This is nothing new. He did this same crap at UC. He's abusive and completely self absorbed.

He's the perfect fit for the domers. Match made in heaven.

Been saying it ever since he took over.

First Weiss and now Kelly, it's been a great thing to watch from a Michigan point of view.

Like they've had it any better. I hate UM.

Maybe it was the 500 yards of total offense we amassed during the game. I mean we really cant kid ourselves, you take away even just a couple of those mistakes and we win this ballgame. Yesterday was a freak game and thats how I'll always look at it, that is what you would call WORST case scenario.

If they commit the same amount of turnovers next game then we have a whole different issue on our hands, but percentages say that they wont. God, heres hoping that we dont see that kind of game again all year.

Take out the "all year". I don't ever want to see that. EVER EVER EVER.

I do too. I also thought that the last 2 years. I stay awake at night thinking about how incredible Clausen would have been in Kelly's spread. It'd be incredible.

I thought about that too. Oh well, I guess we just have to work with what we have and move forward.

Well apparently, Vegas bookies also think logically and saw the corn inside of the dump we took yesterday. Wynn Las Vegas has us as a 3.5 point favorite right now.

I think you guys are putting way too much stock into just how good of a team South Florida is. They didn't even win the big east last year and Michigan stomped the big east champ in the opener last year. I rate the big east slightly better than the MAC. Michigan did what it was supposed to do yesterday and that was win. You can compare stats but when the Michigan defense scores two touchdowns that gave Western a big edge in overall offensive stats because they had the ball two more times. Overall I think Michigan had 5 possessions and on three Michigan scored. Our defense is no world beater that is for sure but Mattison did a fine job with the red zone adjustments and should come after who ever you have at qb.
The Michigan offense for the most part did what it wanted. I thought Carder, the Western Michigan qb was just tough as nails. On one possession he just got blasted and got up and was trash talking the Michigan defense. It reminded me of the movie Rocky. I like the fact that ND is the favorite. It seems like the favorite almost always loses in this game. Who the better team is never seems to matter so anything can happen. I think your qb situation could be trouble. The two most effective players you had against Michigan last season were Rudolph and Christ. I doubt Christ last a quarter. Last season I thought Reese did good against other teams but not against Michigan so I like our chances. Your coach just has your two qb's way to shaken up and nervous. The yelling stuff is just bad news.

Rees attempted two passes and was in for a grand total of 5 plays, all this in his first ever game action at the college level.

WMU's receiver White had 12 catches for 119 yards, yet you don't mention Michael Floyd once in your post. He will have a field day on your defense unless he is triple-covered.

By the way, how is Troy Woolfolk? Will he be available for Saturday?

We need to run the football more in this game and, quite frankly, I think we'll be able to.

Western Michigan ran for 96 yards on 25 carries, but I went and looked at the stat column and...

- Their starting running back averaged 6.5 yards per carry (10 for 65)

- 9 of those 25 carries were by Alex Carder, for a grand total of 0 yards.

- So collectively, all non-Carder runners combined for 6 yards per carry.

I'm not sure we are putting too much stock into how good South Florida is, Wolverine fan. I'll stick my neck out and say USF does not win the Big East and loses 4 games this year. USF had 7 points on our defense when they had more than 40 yards to go to reach the end zone. Our turnovers and the missed FG were catastrophic and inexcusable, and really had little to do with USF forcing them for the most part.

I think Vegas and us homers are the only ones that would consider us favorites. Listen to sportstalk and tv for the week. I think you'll hear quite the opposite. It'll be a pick em, if not a Wolverine edge, in the sportbook by kickoff. Just a hunch. Then we get to play underdog.
