Hey guys, figured I would let my self cool down before posting here. Long time lurker, 1st (well I guess 2nd time) poster. Just some thoughts on riddick

We all know that Riddick has the athletic ability to be a playmaker but the more I see of him at wide out the more I think that this is a failed expierment. He simply doesnt have the hands to be a reciever and even more so a Punt Returner. I say we move him into the backfield to add some much needed depth and maybe try out a guy like Daniels and maybe Daniel smith.

Just some thoughts, let me know your view

If TJ is hurt or out for a while...that changes everything. Goodie will have to step up and a Frosh will have to get some time.

I say we move Riddick back to RB so we have some depth...then we see if DaVaris can make a name for himself.
The one thing I'm wondering, is Toma hurt or something? I didn't hear his name once today and I found that very weird.

He is very talented, some players just have their day. Even the best, Riddick just happened to have his on the 1st game so it is more seen. He is still more talented than half the other WR or more.

To me, it's a confidence issue. He showed us last year that hes a pretty good wr. Once his errors started to build up (Muffed and bobbled punts, dropped passes), I think his mind wasn't in the right place. I think he will stay at wr and kelly already said in the press conference that he will continue to handle punts. He will learn how to handle his emotions and play to the level all of us expect.

Fair enough, I am trying to not judge him too harshly off this perfomance but he was not impressive today. But then again neither was the rest of the team

Also Kelly has been raving about toma and I think he could step up today and play slot

That's a great point. I didn't even think about that. I heard nothing of an injury..

We should shoot him, find him new hands then give him another shot... I mean opportunity.

Lets not over react to one game... Riddick will be fine... had a terrible game but let's see what he does week two before we move him

I'd be more than happy to not see him return punts. Is Collinsworth still on the friggin' team??? Give him a shot. He couldn't possibly be as bad as what I saw this afternoon.

Also, as others have said, put him back at hb to spell Cierre. Jonas is a freaking disaster in crucial moments. Same crap, different season...

I think he can still turn the corner and be the electrifying player we all know he can be. And I also think that if BK lets him play and shows his confidence in him then he'll do so next game against Michigan.

And in his defense re: punt returns, he did have some great fair-catches; plus, I remember trying to play outfield in storms/winds, and I misjudged (dropped) a lot of balls....We just didn't have the same benefit the other way because we never really punted...

To be honest, I really think that some serious investment should be made by ND in an in-house sports psychologist...

Bench Riddick. His performance absolutely deserves that. He was responsible for multiple drops and a huge TO. There needs to be accountability on this team and it starts with putting his butt on the bench. What to do with the kid after that, who knows. He better be first at practice and last to leave, that I DO know! He may be a lost cause...

Partially true, (HCTI just making a point)

so let's put Dayne at TE

let's put Jonas at LB

let's put Hayseed at DE

they've all ****ed up right???

Fine with me.... Next man in. Otherwise, why the hell are we recruiting? Best man plays or am I wrong? Otherwise, let's just play the seniors and hope they have a great send off into their future endeavors......Wheeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!

I feel ya FL....Just don't agree

Clearly everyone wants the "best man" to play -- this just begs the question is how it is determined who is the "best". Thus, the million dollar question literally each football coach has to confront is whether a player's bone-headed play is an anomaly/outlier, or whether the failures on the field in a particular game accurately reflects is everydown skill such that he should be benched.

So, if we've seen Riddick, etc. catch most/all of the passes in practice and previous games, can we presume that he's had a first "bad game", and that, on average, he will perform better? If I knew the answer to that I'd be making millions on football substitution consulting...

But, I personally would give him another shot at UM, in the full role he had today, and see what he can do.

Certainly, and I agree with that. I'm just having fun on a crappy night.

But if he doesn't perform against uscUM, he'll be performing a tap dance at my daughter's birthday party this April.... That is all!!! ;)

Every single punt was hang central for USF... where the hell was Goody?? And Toma? How about some Toma hands in the slot at some point?

This game was one big sloppy joe.. extra sloppy for ya.

Great point... I remember thinking during the Utah ND replay, "goody had NO problem with those punts"

sincerely not being facetious/sarcastic, goody can safely bring in punts, so he definently should be.

Great point man

Enough with this "It's been one game" ****ing bullshit.

That's the same tired idiot line every week of every ND season.

**** Dayne and riddick and jones and all these men that **** their pants when they step on the field. Bench them all vs MU.
