My Intent Isn't to Bash Our Mods

My Intent Isn't to Bash Our Mods

I have to make that clear.

My intent is a path forward from recent wreckage so we may prevent like occurrences and to use my lack of power intertwined with my opinion, which I've had time to think on.

I am disgruntled about the side of the story I have obtained, but it is just one side of the story.

Resolution is the goal.

Lastly, I have a vested interest with this site, or else I wouln't have paid for it and spent countless hours here reading and posting my nonsensical BS.

(I did do a little mod bashing, but with no names involved and no hate. Perception is what's at risk here.)

I don't know why Dshans got banned. It seems completely crazy to me. Also, if you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen. Seriously. I'm the only girl that I know of here, and I don't whine nearly as much as "some" of you "Men"

You get rid of it near the stove, I'm sure.

;)

Vent there, please.

Johnny, there should be 2 rules:

Be an adult. Don't act like an idiot.

Unfortunately, there are a few posters who can't abide by that, so we had to list a series of rules. And now you want an interpretation of every damn rule? Sorry, but give me a friggin' break. Mods have lives too...why should we have to babysit some idiots just so everyone can enjoy the site?

It would ne nice after working a long day to come home and READ this site and post opinions, but instead we have to sift through mounds of bullsh!t crated by posters who simply can't control themselves. A guy asks a simple question and a poster attacks him and creates a ruckus for no good reason? Mods' fault. Get a warning from a mod but yet you continue with it, resulting in a ban? Mods' fault. Attack a poster because he gives credible inside info but won't reveal his sources? Mods' fault. Tell that same poster repeatedly to stop but he doesn't? Mods' fault. That same poster then repeatedly curses out the mods resulting in his 3rd ban? Mods' fault. Mods close an innappropriate thread? Mods' fault. Poster then cusses out a mod for closing that thread? Mods' fault.

Again, give me a friggin' break. Some of these adults' behavior on this site lately has been an absolute joke. And I like you johnny, but asking us to break the rules down even further, when there should be no need for rules if people would just act like they would if they were having a conversation face-to-face, is a joke too.

The fact that TT and I have to even respond to this is a joke. You have no idea what goes on behind the scenes. You don't see the deleted posts. You don't see the PMs, you don't see the warnings, you don't see the infractions, given, you don't see the history behind their posts, etc etc. Sh!t, you've been asking for details on this very thread, proving what you don't know. Name ONE time where a current mod, mysekf included, has banned a poster without reason.

Now, this isn't a pity party for us mods. I knew what I was getting into and I'm good with it. I like this site too much to let a few idiots who have no self-control ruin it for the rest of the Irish fans.

If you want the WIld Wild West, go to NDNation. I you want to talk Irish football and other subjects with some sense of civility amongst friends, stick around here. Pretty simple.

NDinL.A., you will be challenged. You need to be able to take the heat.

I think since you've been doing all of the banning you should explain yourself like you did.

Although, I think you left out the subjective side of things AKA your side.

I hope we can keep this positive enough for you to keep this thread open.

I think it can be a good thing.

We do have the right to ask for rules, since we may lose our privilege concerning the rules.

Homie... let's back up a bit. I think Johnny is trying to bring down the volume, not turn it up. We all know that you do a ton of work here, and we appreciate it. I think Johnny was just trying to figure out a way to have a calm, rational conversation about how we can start having a better relationship between us and the mods.

He also pointed out that he like you... a lot.... almost in an unhealthy way. :cowboy:

Is that cowboy smiley a reference to Brokeback Mountain?? If so then I just got a bad visual of LA and Johnny and I can never look at them the same way again...

We do have the right to ask for rules, since we may lose our privilege concerning the rules. I can go back in your posts and prove your flaws.

How would your antimatter, let's call him "NDinN.Y.," handle some of your replies with a different set of mores and values then you currently display?

I think you would be infracted, as you are by far the most outspoken and quick to the trigger mod we have.

This, of course, is a different dimension.

We only have to worry about this one right now.

Entanglement, anyone?

You call it a quick trigger, I don't see it that way. We'll never see eye to eye on it, either. When you give guys warnings, and they choose to ignore it, despite the rules being posted and besides the warnings, then they deserve whatever they get. When you attack other posters without provication, get warned, and then continue to post against othe rposters and against this site, then you deserve what you get. When you cuss out of a mod and call him names only because he closes a thread in which THE ORIGINAL POSTER agreed with the closing...you deserve what you get. And the past 2 bannings were temporary. All the dudes have to do is chill and they'll be fine.

I ask again, why in the world do people have to act like a**holes? And why would you get mad at a mod for trying to retain some form of civility?

Yuo're right, I have gotten into it with posters. I'm a poster/Irish fan first. I love the discussions/arguments. But I try to keep it about the argument, not the poster. I try not to get personal. If I get personal, by all means, call me out on it. But I don't believe I do.

Years ago, I got into big-time with a guy who was later banned. A mod told me to stop and to take it to PM. I didn't listen. So I got an infraction and a warning to knock it off or I'd be out. You know what I did? I sent a PM to the mod agreeing with the infraction because I deserved it. I didn't call him a 'putz', I didn't negative rep him, I didn't start a new thread crying about it. That's what babies do. I knew I was in the wrong, so I accpeted it and moved on. That infraction sits in my User Profile still.

I ask you again johnny, who got banned that didn't deserve it?

You gotta realize, I wrote that post in the middle of teaching. I started it during my break, and finished it like 20 minutes later when my students were watching their "Friday Inspirational Video" (courtesy of e:60). So I missed a lot of posts in between what I was writing. I don't have time right now to get to your original post.

From what I understand, NDinL.A., you were neg repped after you closed a thread.

Once again, this is all heresay.

From there you took it to PM with the said poster. It broke down. When you say cursed out, I think that's fine in PMs. If it's not, I certainly need to understand the rules.

PMs to me is fair game. Toughen up, or ignore my PMs. I curse freely here. If you pulled out in front of me, you'll get the bird. If you then roll down your window, you'll get a **** you.

I understand toning it down in posts for general public, but if we go to combat, no-holds-barred.

I think it's a disgrace to even invite combat otherwise.

That's the rules I'm talking about. You say to "take it to PMs." The gloves come off there. But now you can be bannned for it.

In my humble opinion, that was chicken **** to ban the guy. Straight up. Since You asked, I'll tell you.

And lastly, the banning of the "fuzzy" variety concerns this mornings.

I agree in full that the OP had a terrible subject concerning the lake getaway. How can you associate Miami and ND's lake getaway? Why would you post it? Does the poster have "zero" understanding of how google works? I would have nuked the thread if I were a mod. Thank God I'm not, because 50% of this site would be banned. Which is the major reason I could never do your job/ would never be offered your job. Hell, I run a ****in' NCAA dynasty like Hitler. I feel like Bog was bashed by a few with a different outlook, although I agree with him absolutely. I'm not certain of how things unfolded there with him, but I don't think you guys gave him a fair shake. Maybe he was a little bold. This is my opinion.

Now, if you can make these two incidents precedent and incorporate the rules (perceived rights vs. wrongs) in the two aforementioned scenarios, the world here is a better place. Mostly for me, because the nect stupid GD thing I read about ND being "suspicious," besides throwing up in my mouth, I'm gonna call it out. And then I'm gonna expect an infraction.

With Bog, you ultimately dinged him for repeating the same thing you did just now, and that's by saying having "rules" was stupid.

Now, the major point I have to make is this:

I paid (donated) for The Varsity Club Membership. Now that it's a "membership" I paid for, I want you and the other mods to know, its a LEGAL issue to not inform me for what I may lose my "privilege" concerning this place I hang my Notre Dame hat up in.

If you do not "define" what will cause me to go away, and represent a standard, you are at risk of legal ramifications.

I, of course, would never pursue such case, but you can bet an attorney with nothing better to do might.

So get in shape with your rules, because this subjective **** is not cutting it. Not at all.

I pretty much lurk here during the summer. I've been lurking more than in the past because this is an exciting off-season. I have to be honest, some threads I feel like posting in and I don't because there seems to be a new level of posting here where if you don't know a ton about something, you are called out and kind of put through the ringer. Now, it can be all in fun, that's fine. But you have to understand, if you are a regular poster here and go back and forth constantly with the same people, you create a relationship. Even though it's an online relationship, you get to know styles and can joke back and forth etc. But some posters aren't in that bunch and just want to come on and ask questions or state opinions. Maybe they are simple questions or simple opinions. If you then respond to those questions with jokes or put downs, a negative reaction has got nothing to do with thin skin. Some people might not be in that loop. They might just come here to get info and because they like ND football.

Not sure if that makes sense. I guess the short version is: there are all different people on here. Different levels of posting, different levels of fandom, knowledge, etc. We should be open to all that. Seek to understand before wanting to be understood.

Strong points.

I have been guilty of the aforementioned, although I think 95% of the time, I've been really good to newbs.

Which is more fair though: to be disgruntled because the freakin' new guy (FNG) didn't read, or to expect everyone to cater to the FNG.

We all started out as new. We all took our lumps. Now step-up, take yours, and develop those callouses.

You will not find a mean poster here, in my opinion.

I think you need to toughen up, in all honesty.

And you need to learn to use the "search" function. That's not an unfair comment for a vet poster to tell a FNG poster, IMHO.

I don't disagree totally. I've been here since '07. There have been some really heated debates etc. I don't have a problem with those. I've been in them myself. But lately it just seems that it's more "put downs" rather than debates. And using the "search" function is fine, if warranted. But sometimes there's nothing to search. My talking about "simple questions" is not in reference to something you would find in search.
