Yup. Weis has definitely never beaten a defense better than what he will see in the SEC this year...(other than all of those NFL defenses he dismantled on the way to three Super Bowls with one great offensive player at his disposal).

Look, it doesn't matter how many games Florida wins or where they finish in the standings. I'm not arguing that Muschamp is a great coach. I'm saying Florida's offense will good.

Yeah since that had nothing to do with Bill Belichick, and NE really dropped off without Weis.

...we can agree to disagree I guess.

Agreed. I think that the guy has proven repeatedly that he can call plays. There were definitely times when he was with the Patriots I would scratch my head at some of his play calls - he can be a little unorthodox - but his quirkiness proved effective far more often that it failed.

Floridas offense will be good, but never great, and will have a lot of trouble with the top SEC defenses. wanna bet a few vbucks? set the parameters.

HE DESIGNED THE OFFENSE. New England still uses Charlie's playbook. The current OC (O'Brien) was hired by Josh McDaniels, who is a Weis disciple. [The one thing we can take from all of that (Weis, Crennel, Mangini and McDaniel) is that Belichick's #1 skill (organization building) has not rubbed off on his proteges.] I'm not sure if Weis kicked your dog or something, but I don't see how a reasonable football fan could argue that the guy is not a good offensive coach. I'm not a Weis sycophant; I was as happy as anyone that ND replaced him. He wasn't a good head coach, but that isn't the point here.

I'm not saying he is not good, relax. I am saying that he is not GREAT which he isn't. I told you that he can design plays, but he CANNOT execute them on his own without someone supervising him. CW can do his thing, but nothing else, he cannot go outside the box like a Nick Saban, Bob Stoops, BK, or Urban Meyer. He is predictable in his play calling, and reverts back to his tendencies when pressed. He cannot adapt, and will not beable to adapt after a season or two when SEC coaches figure him out. Weis will have top 25 offenses, but will never be top 5, and will never stump any coach in the SEC

Weis is very predictable, but does he need a top offense like at ND to win? The Florida defense kept them in alot of games this last season. If he can produce an offense like in his first year at ND and Florida keeps it's defense up. Which should not be hard with Muschamp at the helm. Florida could almost be unstoppable.

Like you said though, in a few years or even this year, once the SEC figures out his tendencies he will be done.

Yeah, by Weis' last year in New England and his last year with ND, defenses totally shut down his offenses.

Florida will be scary once Charlie gets a competent QB and a team not built for a Tebow-spread. I will literally never understand anyone who doesn't get this. Guy can flat out coach QBs and offense.

I don't have a clue what a v-buck is, but I'll bet everyone I can that Florida has a GREAT offense under Chuck. Seriously, where do I sign?

But all those rings on his fingers say he is great, doesn't it? And when he had veteran players at ND, he was great, wasn't he? It has nothing to do with being a head coach - nothing to do with Belichik, who gave the offense to CW; but talking pure offense, he got it done.

Look at when he had Quinn - the offense was sick. in '07 and '08, it had nothing to do with people catching up, it had to do with sh!tty/and or young talent. Then look at '09, with a veteran QB and playmakers at the WR position, the offense was s-i-c-k. No one 'caught up' to CW...he was torching teams, and it would have been worse had Clausen not been injured - a lot worse.

Sooooo, year one he had a great offense, and year 5 he had a great offense. That's adapting. And how do you know he will never be able to stump any coaches in the SEC? You're making a lot of claims as if they are fact. Ask Tennessee if they were able to figure him out (Brady threw for nearly 300 yds as ND hung 41 on them, with some help from St and the D). Even in '08, against North Carolina (an SEC type defense that has or will produce a TON of NFL players), ND put up 24 points in 3 quarters with a very young offense that had no running game.

Sorry, I'm just not buying it. Tom Brady SWEARS by Weis. That's one of the greatest QBs of all time. And anyways, why are you blowing every coach in the SEC??? They have some sh!tty defenses there too. Don't let the media fool you.

* Kentucky gave up 48, 32, 37, 28, and 44 pts in consecutive weeks last year.
* Ole Miss gave up 38, 51, 52, 43, and 31 points to end the year last year.
* Tennessee gave up 48 pts to Oregon, then gave up 41, 41, and 38 three straight weeks to SEC teams.

And that's just 3 teams; I'm not even going to waste my time with the others, like Vandy and Georgia and Arkansas. So are you seriously saying CW can't 'stump ANY SEC defensive coordinator'? If he gets a good QB, with those FL athletes, he's going to put up some sick numbers in the SEC.

The SEC is great, no doubt, but top heavy, and they have some awful defensive performances in that conference. Don't buy that media bull crap...

I missed the replay again! Wish I would have seen this sooner. I only saw this game once, I was soaked but it was the best time. We were right in front Of Harrison Smith when he picked off that pass. ND section went nuts. USC section didnt say anything becquse they all left. They couldnt handle the rain.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.........

SEC defenses are going to stomp a hole in Weis.

That's the same thing that we heard about Urban Meyer and his "gimmicky" offense: it may work in the WAC or MWC, but it will never fly in the SEC. How'd that work out?

Just watched the DVR'd first half.

1) Darius Fleming is a beast.

2) Rees was staring down EVERY receiver he wanted to throw to.

Yup- I also said that earlier in the thread. Rees better change that our he is going to get picked ALOT!

Yea really.. It was very obvious we had a freshman QB playing.

Like the USC fans say "If Barkley was healthy and playing, it's a different game." Well it goes the same way for us.. If Crist is playing healthy in this game, ND wins by at least 2 TDs.

I didn't realize how good our run D was that night (when I first saw it live). Also, this offense needs to start adapting to life without Floyd.. He's not going to be here to bail everyone out. TJ and Theo need to start taking on some serious responsibility with the ball this year.

Like we held five, five star running backs with an o-line to just around two yards a carry.

I dont have espn classic but I went the old fashioned way to make sure i have this game I plugged in my xbox to my vcr (i know how archaic) and recorded off of espn3 on xbox. I remember how happy i was after this game I just chilled on these boards till about 3 am and I had to work at 8 am but it didnt matter I was up for the day and kept whistling the victory march and damsha bua all day much to the dismay of my co-workers and bosses (they arent anti-nd or usc fans they just got tired of my whistling)
