BTW, I was thinking about you Old Man Mike when I wrote this :)

What would be great is if someone would write up a letter that we could all email to them to express our displeasure. I would do it but I write like a 10 year old. :/

Dan P made the great point that Cornheiser and Jacobson were suspended for only a couple weeks for a sexist (Cornheiser) comment and another one filled with drunken slurring, absurd language and flat out bigotry (Jacobson)... but Feldman is suspended indefinetely for simply writing the peice ESPN gave him permission for. Filled with nothing but Leach's side of the story.

Whether it is true or not, that sends the clear message that ESPN cares far more about the protection of Craig James than they do about sexism, character and bigotry.

Pathetic...

ndfi78: flattering. However i believe that such things, unless they are massive in signature power, have somewhere between zero to negative impact on giant organizations. ESPN will be affected by lawsuits held with formal court powers and accompanying publicity, but they don't care at all about a few "fans" [probably a few "Notre Dame fans" are even worse].

Whatever Leach and Feldman do in their separate ways will be embarrassing to ESPN, and ESPN authorities will not be anxious to see it repeated. The more publicity this crud gets, the more Craig James will get soiled. If enough, we may have to put up with him less, as projecting his face will not seem good policy for higher-ups.

I always wish the improperly treated well and hope that the wrongs are righted. I DON'T usually push hard for "revenge" or retribution upon the guilty [when we're talking about a person anyway rather than an organization]. The line one walks there is tricky, and threatens to dirty oneself.

As Mountain William warns me: "You tend to smell like what you roll in."

To me this shows that Leach's side of the story is true.

ESPN's reply, said there wasn't a suspension. Hmm, why didn't they just come out and say that ASAP instead of waiting until after there was an outcry about it?

ESPN Statement Regarding Bruce Feldman
Posted by Editor • July 15, 2011

"There was never any suspension or any other form of disciplinary action. We took the time to review his upcoming work assignments in light of the book to which he contributed and will manage any conflicts or other issues as needed. Bruce has resumed his assignments."

Translation - It's routine for 3 senior members of the organization to hold a conference call with a guy that's already finished writing a book, that we okayed, to discuss his workload. We thought he might need a rest after all that hard work.We reconsidered after all the calls, emails, and tweets slammed our office. We had no idea how much of a sh!tstorm this would cause.
