Okay. So you'll soon find that this is a help and support deal, but has nothing to do with the forums here.

Today, I purchased a laptop brand new from hhgregg.

Now I've tried EVERYTHING I can possibly think of, but I'm hoping that maybe there are some computer guys on the forums.

My problem is that I can connect to my home wifi network with ease, but the problem is that after a period of time of say 15 minutes the connection drops out and it's said the adapter is off. It clearly isn't though. It then says "Not connected - No connections available" which is not true again. The only way I can get it to reconnect again is if I run the troubleshoot option, but it drops out after another 15 minutes of being connected.

Please, if you think you know anything or anyone that can help, I would greatly appreciate it. I just did this on the laptop. I bet when I post this it drops out again...

Take it back. Sounds like a problem with your hardware (or possibly just the software... but either way you DO NOT want to be fixing this yourself because even if you do this is a very bad sign for things to come).

What Lax said, I had something similar to that happen but I already had my laptop for awhile. So no warranty or anything. Where I use my laptop it is close to my router so I just directly connected it. No problems since, except with my XBox 360 which still makes me mad.

Alright. As bad as it pisses me off that I got this thing TODAY and it seems my best option is to return it, I do have a warranty that guarantees perfect repair or refund. I've been screaming "FBS" for a few hours at this thing if you know what I mean.

The computer would be perfect...if it worked properly.

Try to find updated drivers and or firmware for it before you go through the hassle of returning it. Look at the makers website to see if other people have similar issues. Type in the model# and search google for the same.

Thirded. The manufacturer's website is a good place to start for most problems - beyond driver and firmware updates, they tend to have paid moderators to answer questions as well. But if you're getting that deep into a brand new computer, you might as well just take it back...

Well I found what might possibly be updates, but now Dell.com won't let me install them so I will just take it back and if that's all it needs I'm sure the store will do it for me.

If you got it today, just take it back, don't play with it.

If you are having issues on day one with a PC, it's usually just the tip of the iceberg.
Return it, don't let them tell you they'll fix it and give you back the same one.

Also, buying a Dell was your first mistake. Go with Apple, Lenovo, HP or Acer, in that order.

Didn't feel well early today, but I'm getting better.

"I got betta..."

Anyways, so hopefully I should be able to take it back today. And for the price and specs of this thing, I couldn't turn it down. It goes online for about 2x more than what I payed. If the adapter just worked properly, we'd be good.

Oddly enough, it's done alright today. (I'm on it right now.) Yet to crash, but I'm probably jinxing it right now...

I'd be happy to do a remote desktop session with you if you still have the laptop. Odds are this is software related and not hardware related.
