Just played it on the xbox. I was a bit unimpressed. But it normally takes me a week of play to get into the zone with it.

Taking this year off and sticking with '11.. plus I know all of my buddies will have it so I'll still be able to beat their *** in it. Good times to come...

Gimmicks + bad planning = making any defense look bad.

See: Vince Young against USC in '05.

Always laugh when people call the option a gimmick.

Given that we have to play Navy every year, and their 200 yard rusher and most of his O-line is back, along with GeeGee "GTFO Carlo" Greene, we'd best start not looking bad. While we were better at Yankee Stadium, Navy and Army are not the same team nor the same option.

Wouldn't mind seeing special teams an A, although the punting game wasn't a strength. As said, the defense has some questions. The stretch looked good, but we also got destroyed by Navy, and got beat by Tulsa.

Offense has some Qs as well, between Floyd's status, QB uncertainty, etc.

I heard that Harrison Smith and Gary Gray were basically left out of the game. This true?

Ya. Don't think they realized they were 5th year guys. Dever is out also. Riddick is slow. Wood is a little too slow IMO. Crist is overrated lol. Lot of the ratings are just inaccurate and lazy, and that's for a team like ND who is obviously very high profile. God knows how some of the other team's ratings are.

God EA, you're really bad at making accurate ratings. They need to be paying some of the guys who make rosters...

Oy vey!

Looking at some of these ratings is killing me.

  • Cierre Wood has 88 speed.
  • Theo Riddick as 88 speed and only 82 agility.
  • Tyler Eifert is an 85 overall and our next highest rated TE is 73 overall.
  • KLM and Johnson are 82 and 81 overall.
  • There's no Gary Gray.
  • There's no David Ruffer.

This is a muff by EA. Btw, ND is at 5:13 in that video.

I could be wrong but I think #35 is supposed to be Gray... they did that last year... had the ratings, height and weight close but the numbers were all over the place... and we were both wrong on Nix... pretty sure he is 68 overall... last night with the tiny writing it looked like 88...

and yeah, I don't see anyone who could possibly be H. Smith...

Hey look!

This guy got the Madden cover after the 14th best rushing season in Cleveland history and 11th best in the entire NFL in 2010!

How did that happen again??? Haha!

Online voting working at it's best.

And white people were excited to see a successful white running back for the first time in however long.

Red is for speed, blue is for agility, orange is for acceleration.

QB #10 (Crist) - 91 (72)
HB #20 (Wood) - 86 (88, 80, 86)
WR #3 (Floyd) - 95 (90, 89, 93)
WR #6 (Riddick) - 83 (88, 92, 82)
WR #7 (Jones) - 80 (92, 91, 90)
TE #80 (Eifert) - 85 (84, 88, 87)
LT #70 (Martin) - 85
LG #66 (Watt) - 82
C #52 (Cave) - 83
RG #78 (Robinson) - 86
RT #74 (Lombard) - 76

I have a few issues here. Wood and Riddick's ratings are definitely lacking. Eifert's agility dwarfs Wood's, that is unacceptable. Also, where is Taylor Dever? He should be at RT and he should be ~82+, no? Overall it's not too terrible. Notre Dame has an above average offense, but some speed in the receiving corp. Eifert should just about always be subbed in as the fourth receiver WR.

Red is speed, pink is for strength, orange is acceleration, green is awareness

DE #90 (Johnson) - 82 (70, 83)
DT #98 (Cwynar) - 81 (70, 81)
DE #89 (Lewis-Moore) - 81 (79, 80)
LOLB #45 (Fleming) -83 (84, 82, 79)
MLB #5 (T'eo) - 94 (86, 86, 91)
MLB #44 (Calabrese) - 83 (80, 85, 80)
ROLB #55 (Shembo) - 78 (83, 82, 56)
CB #12 (Blanton) - 86 (92, 95, 92)
CB #23 (Wood) - 78 (90, 92, 59)
FS #15 (McCarthy) - 79 (90, 86, 68)
SS #17 (Motta) - 82 (90, 91, 70)
****SS #26 (Slaughter) - 79 (90, 95, 76)

Some of these are mind-boggling. No Harrison Smith? No Gary Gray? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Due to the awareness ratings I expect that teams will be able to play pitch-and-catch against this team fairly easily if one has even a modicum of skill. Also, Johnson and Lewis-Moore should both be ~85+, an 82 and 81 is just dumb. Slaughter should be started over Motta, in my opinion.

Isn't #7 TJ Jones not Riddick. Riddick is #6 I believe.

I thought Riddick was #32?! ;)

No no, you're right. In my opinion their stats should be swapped then. No way in hell Riddick deserves those stats, he is much faster. In my opinion his speed/agility/acceleration should be 94/93/95. But that's just my opinion I guess. He's going to have a big year, I don't think we're giving him as much hype as we were heading into 2010.

Agreed. I might be ok with the speed if they gave him an acceleration around 92-94. I think he is more quick than fast.

You're probably right. That'd also put Riddick as the 3rd man which would make him slot and TJ as number 2 on the outside. It would make sense. Although I think Riddick is better than what his overall shows.

I'm okay with Riddick's speed here, for one reason. He tends to try and juke every single defender that he encounters.

Now I love his ability to make guys miss, but have we ever really seen Riddick turn on the burners in the open field?

I'm trying to think of some receptions last year and I can't think of any. Maybe there were a couple runs as a freshman kick returner?

I think Riddick's fast, but I don't think we should be upset with his rating here.

EA likes to make mistakes on Notre Dame every single year so we shouldnt be surprised they left Smith and Gray out (although it pisses me off) but ill just have to make them in creat-a-player

Something I honestly think should be added is Illegal Benefits when recruiting. It would be like in boxing games where you can use illegal blows or in the old wrestling games where you can call people from the back to fight with you. If you use the Illegal Benefits too much, or the wrong way that is when a paper trail starts and could end up in you being fired.

I think it could add a twist to the game.

Great idea, would really spice up the recruiting.

If ND has a prestige of 5 due to recent developments in program history...than how does USC have a prestige of 6? I wonder if those sanctions effect in-game bowls

Lol. They can't even put a dollar sign on coaching jobs in the game so the addition of illegal benefits won't be happening anytime soon. Although I love the idea. Last year's game had a problem with recruiting where only like 5 schools would get a five star player. It's ridiculous. Being able to pay them would definitely sway more of those guys to other programs. :)

What's the bigger LOL on here, the fact that Notre Dame is 5 out of 6 or the fact that Rice is a 2 and not a 1 in prestige?
