Well I'm completely embarrassed now. Thanks for the reality check.

On a side note I still think Tracey Howard is the best corner I've seen in this class.

Oh no worries man...you didn't need to tell everyone it was you!!!

Darrel Green was short, but he was still a pretty good player.

Ha ha, yeah, he was aiiiiiight huh?

Man, at 40 yrs old that dude could still fly. Crazy...

his height doesn't bother me...is he fast?? yes. so i'd say he can play for us...bob sanders is only 5'8", but he was the best defensive player in the league for at least two years and could have been more if he stayed healthy. sure i'd like for him to be 6', but if our staff was willing to offer him outside of their preference for the CB position he must be special.

If a good majority of people thought he was going to commit to Michigan then this must be a good thing that he cancelled the PC.

I'm guessing another tweet will come & be like "k now its cancelled forreal" or something along those general lines. Follow the kid on twitter and seems to love the attention.

That played out over months. This is all happening in one evening- hardly the same.

Disagree.

Announcing for ND then Flipping to FSU then back to ND,

OR,

flipping on your announcement date back and forth because you don't want to end up doing what happened above? Cut him some slack.

Lynch also had a crazy final week of recruiting in which he was shown in a ND sweatshirt, then professed his love to FSU, then shot down rumors he was thinking about ND again, then said once again that he was still going to FSU, then said he might take a visit to ND but he was still committed to FSU, then decommitted to FSU, then said he was no longer considering FSU and announced a top 3 of ND, Miami, and Florida, then said he was visiting ND, etc etc etc. And again, all of this happened over one short week.

These kids have a ton of pressure on them, and they (some ND players included) have a hard time making a final decision. One thing that is very difficult for them is that they have to inform so many coaches whim they've grown close to that they are shunning their schools. That's tough to do for a 17 year-old.

So yeah, this seems to be a bit dramatic, but if he's telling the truth and saying it has to do with family, then what are you going to do? If he verballed to ND, I think almost all of us would quickly forgive him and welcome him with open arms. Too bad he's not coming here though...

Amen to this.

Committing to ND, then flipping to FSU (upsetting ND fans), then de-committing from FSU (upsetting FSU) and re-committing to ND or more dramatic then switching your announcement time (when you haven't committed to anyone).

The homepage of this site asks for rational, intelligent conversation. This means we can't always be bias. Good luck and I hope when he decides it's the right time to committ he does and sticks with it.

Who has Richardson verballed to that he's changing? Nobody!

You interjected the irrelevant Lynch commitment "flipflop" nonsense when BeauBenken rationally, intelligently, and very simply noted:

Whether Richardson is still struggling with his not or simply tweeted before the announcement logistics were put in place or a parent hadn't been able to get time off from work to be there Benken's post gracefully covered it. "This is why you think things through ... ." Wish more people did that before posting.

I just don't see how anyone can confuse this with the Lynch situation. A) Richardson never verballed to ND B) No one thought we were the front runner for him, not the majority anyway C) despite what some people want to believe, even though the majority of the Lynch saga did "get good" over the past week, it was in fact played out over months. It was obvious that Lynch had a history, a sort of legacy to follow at Notre Dame (his grandfather). His mother really wanted him here. He reportedly really wanted to be here. It was a struggle that lasted a LONG time, not just a week.

Richardson, on the other hand, has no familial ties to ND. He doesn't have his parents urging him here, that we know of. He's not worried about academics, that we know of. He sure as heck hasn't verballed here previously, then flipped, then debating flipping back. I'm sorry- it's just not the same.

Why are we so hard-pressed to equate this to Lynch? Is it because ultimately that was a happy ending for he and ND? ND will be fine with or without Richardson (preferably with), but if he doesn't want to play here he doesn't have to. All anyone ever said is the whole flip-flopping texts regarding news conferences is why we should think things through first is because it just looks bad. However, we also understand he's a kid, still. There's no hard feelings here towards Richardson. I hope everyone understands that none was ever meant.

at the very least this gives us a little something to chat about...he's going to michigan and just wants is day/days in the sun. there's just too much pulling him that way and too much of an oppotunity to play right away.

You're probably right. This is all probably just a moot point, but what else are we going to do until Summer?!?!?!!? lol
