Grats Nick!
Welcome home son. You'll be great here.

Good pickup at a position at need. Love it. He's great a ton of things... nice and solid all around.
Badger's return from his mission will help bolster our number again... he'll also give us a John Lynch-esque hard hitting safety that we havn't had since the Burris days.
When does Badger return? I forgot about him...

Is Baratti going to play safety his senior year? I am under the imression he only played it his sophomore year and is now playing QB...
Maybe 2012.
It depends on what they consider a "two year" mission. When did Badger leave?
This is my interview with Nick Baratti.

Thanks for posting that here!
Thanks NDinLA, I know that you guys don't like B/R but I posted my Tee Shepard, Ronald Darby and I think my Tom Srtobel interviews here too. All these kids are really something special. Really happy about their opportunities. I will try to track down Justin Ferguson this week.

When asked where Nicky was in regards to the Rivals 250, Farrell and Co. replied that they had simply not seen enough of him at Safety to give him 4 stars, but he has been impressive so far this spring and a good fall with have his stock rising.
I am not trying to start a brouhaha or anything but honestly I couldn't care less what Rivals thinks of him.
Rivals and Scout and all the rest of them are very accurate with the 5 star guys that everybody has known about forever...after that they are hit and miss. First off they don't actually scout most kids in person, so their ratings are of questionable validity. Secondly the blanket ratings regardless of system makes their evaluation of limited use. Finally, they frequently crank up a recruit's rating the moment he commits to Alabama or Florida, based (I suppose) strictly on that commitment.
I don't see why we should care one way or the other whether Rivals or Lemming or whomever adds stars to a prospect's rating. To me, it is enough that the staff has carefully evaluated this kid and offered him early...so he is obviously near the top of their board. I saw too many 5 star guys go absolutely nowhere under the Weis regime to even think twice about it. If Kelly and company see a young man who they can develop into a player, that means infinitely more than the recruitnik's stars.
Don't get me wrong, those no-brainer 5 star guys are great to get, provided they have the academic potential to be successful at ND...but I don't think Rivals or Scout or whomever has clue one about half of these the 3 and 4 star kids. Their star ranking is mostly based on second hand info and I guarantee that Baratti's rating will improve based solely on his verbal to ND. If he had verballed to Alabama it would have risen even further...so after the top tier the rankings are irrelevant.
Fair enough, but understand that it's because of rivals and scout, etc that half of us follow recruiting... We wouldn't know much beyond 'somebody signed' if it weren't for those sites. And if we don't follow/want the guys that they deem 5*'s, then how would we actually know who we're hoping ND signs? It's not like you, or I, or anyone else on here ACTUALLY knows who a player is, or how good he's going to be... The recruiting sites might not be spot on, but take them for what they're worth. Personally, I'm EXTREMELY glad we have them.
I haven't seen video of him playing safety since his sophomore year. He'll play there again this year. The ratings services will adjust accordingly.
