Wide receiver Leonte Carroo (Ramsey, N.J./Don Bosco Prep) is a big-bodied receiver that had a big junior season and has attracted the attention of a number of college programs.
Wide receiver Leonte Carroo was a second-team All-State selection in New Jersey as a junior.One of the top overall prospects in the Garden State for the Class of 2012, Carroo, who has well more than a dozen early verbal scholarship offers, recently named a top five.
“My current top five is Rutgers, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Georgia and UCF,” he said. “That’s not in any order. Every college is pretty much even. I have great communication with all of those coaches and I (communicate) with them daily.”
Carroo plans to check out a couple of schools this spring.
“I am not sure yet where I will go,” he said. “I have to set my schedule because I also do spring track.”
Carroo participates in the 100, 200 and 400-meter dash in outdoor track for Don Bosco. He has been timed as fast as 10.8 seconds in the 100.
There are several things that Carroo, who wants to major in Communications, is looking for in a college program.
“I want a great education, a building program and a family atmosphere,” he said.
Carroo was a second-team all-state selection during his junior year. He caught 47 passes for 1,100 yards and 18 touchdowns.
