Man I'm pumped for Thursday! This may be the only time I have ever rooted AGAINST ND. BTW, dshans, the game is in Minneapolis. You should really try to see my Bulldogs crush the Irish.

And it will be your last! I have placed a curse on you! All your crops will wither and die and your cows will yield no milk!

And why do you want to bring dshans in to this? At his age, I am not sure his heart can take the thrill and excitement of hockey!

Sweet Jeezus, you guys, cut an old fart some slack, wouldja!

I grew up in FL (about a century ago) and hockey wasn't on my radar. The only time I played it was the last day of a PE segment my freshman year at ND. I did manage to score a goal even though I was supposed to be playing defense – "Just don't fall down, or fall down and get in the way of someone from the other team!"

Since I've been in MPLS (moved here in 1978 or 1979, I forget which) I have been to two high school games (my ex-wife was a high school teacher - her school, Bloomington Jefferson, won it all that year*), one Golden Gophers' game (an ex-brother-in-law had tickets) and a Minnesota North Stars game (that same ex-bro-in-law had tix).

As with many sports, if I've never played it, I don't, generally, give a rat's arse. Ergo, my interest in Rugby, Lacrosse, Hockey, Futbol and Dancing With The Stars is very limited.

Don't hate me. Offer me support in my dotage and buy me a drink should we ever meet.

On that note: GO IRISH on the Minnesota-Duluth squad, and GO MINNESOTAN'S on the Irish squad!

*You might even recognize that reference, IrishInFL.

Yeah, I get it. It sucked that the north country lost both games in the state boys hockey tourney this year.

It's actually in St. Paul, but I will let that one go. ;)

My mom went to UMD but that still doesn't stop me from rooting against those fools. Go IRISH!

Wow, you took it a step further than I did. I was going to curse him and have all of his oxen die while fording the river.

As a sturdy, stubborn and steadfast Minneapolitan, that's the REAL reason I'm not going to the game. Why in the world would anyone from Minneapolis choose to cross the Mississippi to go "slumming" in St. Paul? And what would a sophisticated cosmopolitan such as myself have in common with the sluggards from that cold port city of Duluth?

I was born in Manhattan, the cultural capital of the world, after all. [That I grew up in Orlando, the schlock capital of the world is of no significance.]

Piff!

For some reason, you reminded me to post this video again.

A bit droll, perhaps, and a tad trite.

Spot on, though.

May the better team win.

Who knows, maybe "Bulldogs" will be a recurring theme in NCAA championships this year.

Are the comments true about early home cooking from the refs? Can't watch while at work but it seems like Minnesota has had an awful lot of power plays.

You can't watch, but you can listen. I can't listen at work, but I can watch from time to time. The one penalty I saw when it happened looked pretty legit to me.

Good first period by the Irish. If they can hang in this thing and stay close, it will be an exciting finish. Both of these goalies have given up a ton of goals in various games.

Some very soft calls that arn't normally called... Hopefully the refs don't call as much the rest of the game. Irish will win if they stay out of the box
