Rhode I, nice pick. with these 2 1st round picks the Pats just got about 630 lbs heavier. OMM would appreciate the beef. BTW, I got your hint about what they can do 5 picks later. May also have to look for another corner but we'll see who is available.

With the 29th pick in the 2011 NFL draft the Chicago Bears select Aaron Williams CB Texas. The Bears need a lot of help. OL, WR, LB, DT. I believe they get one of there needs with Aaron Williams. Great upside, good ball skills, big corner. They need more bodys in the secondary to cover the likes of Greg Jennings, Calvin Johnson, Percy Harvin. I also wouldn't mind seeing John Baldwin go here so Cutler has a big target to throw too. But i am going Aaron Williams, CB, Texas.

Tricky pick for the Jets here. Definitely ignore offense until next round or later where you might look into grabbing a WR to replace Braylon Edwards. With 3 FA WRs.... it's just a very fluid situation.

On defense there are needs at every position except CB. So with that in mind, the New York Jets select Rahim Moore, Safety, UCLA. Arguably best available player and in a position of need. I think quality LBs can be drafted in later rounds, especially guys like Casey Matthews who should be somewhere near a late third/early fourth rounder.

Sorry dudes, was out of town and missed the Chiefs pick, I would be happy w/ Carimi, but I think Pouncey or Houston (Georgia) are more likely.

A little bit of a stretch to me. He's a good player, a 2nd rounder. But considering that the Jets dont' have a 2nd round pick, I could see them taking him here. Or, they trade this pick and try and get him in round 2 and get another pick in a later round.

Besides, I was going to take him with Houston's next pick!

With the 31st pick the Steelers select Danny Watkins OG Baylor. I really wanted to grab a CB with this pick, but I like the fact that Danny is a 27 year old rookie. Maurkice Pouncey would have been my first choice but Danny is a nice plan B. He also has a bit of a mean streak so I think he will fit in nice in the Burgh. We gotta keep our 100 Million dollar man upright and with this pick it will help!

Several areas of need I see for the Packers (even though I'm a Bears fan), but I will do my duty as a GM to the best of my capabilities.

I see the pack needing to fill holes at OG, OLB (opposite Matthews), and a corner to replace the aging Chuck Woodson.

With that said I see it best to take the best player available at the above positions of need.

So, with the final pick of the 1st round the Green Bay Packers select Akeem Ayers OLB UCLA.

I've kept my mouth shut all the way down thinking there's no way he'd be available at this point in the draft. Perfect fit opposite Matthews in the 3-4. This would be scary if it were to be the case (Remember I'm a Bear's fan)

Akeem Ayers was still on the board? I thought he was draft a long time ago. Wow.

Finally! I feel obligated not to say anything about who's on the board, but I was shocked he's still there. Great pick.

I'd like to thank everyone who participated and made this a success. I hope everyone enjoyed themselves. Sadly, I'm moving back to PA from Alaska while my wife deploys, so I won't have time to do the second and third rounds. Anyone can feel free to do them using this as their first round if they wish. Again, thanks to everyone who participated, and I hope it helped quell the draft bug for a bit.

With the 17th pick of the 2011 Draft, The New England Patriots select Nate Solder from the University of Colorado. Solder is one of the highest rated tackles in the draft and with the pending free aganecy of Matt Light, the ongoing disgruntlement of Logan Mankins and the recent retirement of Stephen Neal, the Pats need a new book end to pair with Sebastian Vollmer. The 6' 8" 319 lb. Solder accomplishes this. Solder is better at pass protection than run blocking and Tommy Franchise needs all the protection he can get. I will actually be shocked if Belicheck doesn't trade down a couple of times, but that isn't an option in this forum, so we'll start w some beef up front.

Boom. Nice job, Me2SouthBend. Reps for you.

Meanwhile, as is tradition in New England this time of year, Patriot fans are about to riot in the streets because Bill Belichick did not take a pass rusher in the first round. Oh, if only he were as smart as the fans . . .

Fairley, Bowers, and a few others dropping really killed our mock draft. plus all the teams taking QB's so early also made a big difference. I really thought Locker and Ponder were picked way too early and the Jags got a steal with Gabbert at 10.

Pretty fun looking back on how our draft shook out in comparison to the actual product. I can't believe they took Newton #1, it's just unbelievable to me. I hope the Fins try and trade for Jimmy!

Like i said earlier...when carolina picked newton that put them right back into the lottery next season. Atlanta also made a pretty stupid move

Thanks, and aside from my predicting it, I believe it's a great pick for them. It will be interesting to see if he takes Bowers with the next pick. Belicheck is changing the age old question from "If a tree falls in the forest and no one is there to hear it, does it make a sound"? to "if you have a draft pick that you never use, is it any good"? He is unbelievable with his persistence to drop and stockpile. I'd bet large vBucks (if I had them) that he doesn't use all 3 of his 2nd rounders. I really think he is waiting for the league to institute the rookie wage scale before he pulls the trigger on 2 1st rounders.
