Should be amazing.

ND has the 2 seed and the bye to the quarterfinals where they play the #7 Cincy and #10 Villanova winner. Great matchup for us, and I can't see us not winning at least one game, which would almost definitely assure us a #2 seed in the NCAA tourney. We might even be in line for a #1 right now with Duke, BYU, Purdue, and Texas all losing this week. We should be ranked #5 at the worst going into next week.

Some sites are going so far to say that as much as a finals finish would garner a #1. Winning it all would certainly cement that action.

You can't see us losing in our Qrts. match?
Villanova has had a good year, and Cincinnati is hitting their peak right now.Cincy is certainly a team no one wants to face right now.
I hope we can win this matchup, but right now it would be a tossup.

I was just saying last night that if we even make the finals we will pick up a one seed unless we meet pitt in the finals and lose.

I figured that even if Ohio State, Kansas/Texas, and Duke breeze through their conference tournies there is still the fourth one seed open

Wouldn't call it a toss-up. Maybe I'm just too confident in ND, but I don't see us losing to Cincy or Nova. We beat Cincy with Scott only giving us 15 mins off the bench after his injury, and with Hansbrough shooting 1-8. I know it was at home and Cincy is playing better, but we are definitely playing better as well. As for Nova, they just have no confidence right now. I don't see us losing to them after last week.

Ohio State, Kansas and Pitt will be #1 seeds. As long as we don't blow our QF game, we will be in great shape for the last #1 seed IF none of our competitors win their conference tourneys. Duke has a good chance but I don't think they will win it -- they are playing worse instead of better. Texas is much in the same boat and I can't see them getting through all the Big 12 bubble teams AND Kansas. BYU won't get a #1 even if they win the MWC Tournament.

IMO, a tough semi-final loss with some help could still see us as the fourth #1.

I guess I can agree w/ that. One thing I think we can all agree on in Hansborough has to play smarter for us. He's a great player, but makes a lot of bonehead fouls like yesterday's 5th.If he can stay out of foul trouble we could be dangerous.

ESPN's Bracketologist Joe Lunardi has ND as his 4th #1 seed but he said he thinks that the committee would still have Duke as a 1 seed over ND.

USF beat Nova tonight, so we will face the winner of Cincy/USF which is tomorrow at 7.

Pretty random comment but the lines have yet to be posted for these games today. Usually they will post an opening line between 8-11:59 PM the night before (especially for early games).

That being said, with NCAA's focus on gambling, could it be possible that they asked Vegas to hold off on posting because all of the kids being in a big city and dont want 'bookies' to talk to kids to gain any information?

My information is based on sitting next to a Big East ref on the way home from a flight. He told me that the NCAA showed them a video a few years back on college betting and how serious it has gotten. When the ref crew goes out for dinner, they are warned that 'Bookies' know who the refs names and faces and will try to buy drinks for them in order to be an ice breaker to come over to talk to them to gain an insight on their mindset and reffing style or to even go as far as to bribe refs. One such incidence occured to his crew in Boston and his crew chief denied the drink and they immediately left.

Also, refs no longer stay in actualy city where the final 4 is being played. They stay 20 or so miles out of town and are taken in by private van and are immeditely shuttled out right after the game back to their hotel. He said it is basically a hassle to work a Final 4 anymore

Im probably thinking way to far into this, but it is interesting to think about. Perhaps NDinNV could shed some light.

Is Nova a bubble team? Does this loss hurt their chances of getting into the dance? Haven't been following that to closely...

Yea just found this on ESPN regarding bubble watch:

Before the game was over, the Twitter chatter had already begun: After a loss to woeful South Florida in the first round of the Big East tournament, did Villanova deserve to lose its bid to the NCAA tournament? The answer: no. Just ... no. The Wildcats are still very much in the tourney based on their overall body of work; there's a reason the ever-cautious Watch has considered Nova a lock for nearly a month. Of course, that's not say Villanova -- which has lost five straight games and 10 of its last 15 -- particularly looks like a tournament team right now. It doesn't. If your favorite team is likely to be seeded anywhere from Nos. 7-11 in the bracket, you very much want to play the Wildcats. But that doesn't mean Villanova is going to miss the tournament altogether. Sorry, reactionaries; it ain't happenin'.

I'm going out on a limb and gonna pick St. Johns to win the tournament. I like St. Johns right now, they're giant killers and their a hot team right now.

Connecticut looked good today against a fading Georgetown team. I'm going to call the upset for tomorrow and say UConn over Pittsburgh by 6.

They didn't look too "hot" today.

Agreed. They play so up and down to their opponents. Which is pretty typical for Lavin, and used to be for Brey somewhat as well. Lot of no-calls helped them out big time today in the last 30 seconds. This team could win or lose to anyone by any margin and it would not surprise me in the slightest. I really don't see them winning 4 games in 4 days, however. And for whoever wrote UCONN over Pitt, I agree. I'm thinking UCONN, Cuse, ND, and L'ville in the semis then Cuse and ND in the finals.

Plus not to mention the fact that St. Johns also has beaten 6 top 25 teams this year.
