Instead of the crude thing Johnnykillz said, most students when they want to have sex, will go to Las Vegas and just get married.

And this is rediculous too. lol

I know it's the truth, but damn...

I guess the divorce attorneys support the stance.

Two thoughts:
1: Enjoy your 8 seed and first round knockout in the tourney
2: Can you imagine the type of person that turned him in? I'm not talking about their moral terpitude but I envision a weasal like Damon in School Ties

this whole thing is silly to me, as soon as I heard it I thought it was a joke; Does BYU administration think that the majority of the student body is practicing these archaic rules? No doubt there is a number of students that adhere to the honor code. But I'm not going to be so naive to think that the vast majority of college aged kids are NOT having premarital sex. from that perspective, intentional or not, BYU has singled this kid out, the entire country is talking about this. how is that beneficial to that student?

I think the majority of students adhere to the honor code. I only know about a dozen kids at BYU but I can safely say all of them follow the rules to a T. Most of the Jack Mormons end up at Utah State or Utah.

Students who attend BYU understand the honor code when they apply. I think it's amazing that people and media complain about there being no honor in football anymore. People were upset when Calhoun only got suspended for three games and people are still upset that Bruce Pearl still has a job. I respect the fact that BYU is putting honor before winning and not treating athletes differently. All of the dirty buisness that goes on college football, this is refreshing to see the other side of the coin.

BYU is the only school my daughter can apply to.

^ This. There are some schools that make BYU look like Harlem though. Some of the Christian school throughout Texas and Florida are very strict. Eye contact with the opposite sex for an extended period of time will get you in serious trouble. Your allowed to hold hands as a freshman or sophmore. You can't spend time with the opposite sex away from supervision even as a senior. It's pretty extreme.

He isnt a lock to come back next season, he has to apply for re instatement.
Harvey Unga got kicked off a couple times for similiar circumstances, and finally for good his last year.
Jim McMahon, had honor code violation, after violation, but he was never even given a warning. But alot has changed since then.

Including the actual Book Of Mormon, about 2000 times. Ironic, given that it's author deemed it the most correct of any book on Earth lol.

Every religion has its holes. The New Testament had some selective editing if I recall, and in terms of realism I find it no more unlikely that Jesus made it to America than Moses partied the Red Sea.

As for Davies, its an unfortunate situation but he knew the rules and the consequences. Navy loses a player or two every year it seems for things that would never matter and/or get caught at any other school.

Agree. I didn't know his girlfriend was 3 months pregnant, as Nero posted above. Before that info, I wondered who is the turd that ratted him out, and would BYU have suspended him had he not been injured, and just taking the holier than thou stance by making an example out of this kid. Maybe they made examples of the two nationwide so they could save money by free advertising and not having to pay for two Scarlet Letters.

I have NEVER been a fan of BYU. For whatever that's worth...

I can affirm that the vast majority of BYU does indeed follow the code from my visits there, friends who go there, etc.

It's kind of a 50/50 thing for me. Yeah I do feel terrible for him, but at the same time he knew the rules, but what can you do. Plus I'm a bit biased. I had a bad experience with a Mormon girl

I say it is what it is. It's like going to a store or restaurant, they have the right to refuse service to anyone they please. So any university has the right to kick anyone out, for whatever reason they please. As long as the punishment is consistent no problem by me.

Good luck with that one... The honor system involved must be confined to the only perpetrators being the ones in sex tapes, delivery rooms, or abortion clinics.

Otherwise: shhhhh, hush. ;)

Let's examine shotgun weddings...

BYU is a private school, I believe even non mormon have to have a bishops recomend to attend.
How about we all stop with the LDS jokes, and stop talking about their religion, unless you are a member and completely understand what your talking about, if not shhhh.

Most students follow the honor code and they take pride in it.

Faith is a huge part of BYU, it is evident in everything they do, religion is important, I say 1 or 2% of students have a hard time with the honor code, most students leave on missions come back get married and have families while attending school, I must say that most trouble seems to come from inner city kids and non members.
Bronco has went so far as to recruit kids from private schools, so they are ready for the rules down there.

And BYU is real about their believes, they have given up chances to win championships, because that game was held on Sundays, what other school would do that?

No spiff, lets just leave religion out of it, regardless of his faith, he is a student athlete who broke BYUs rules.

I wanna here someone go up to Teo or some of the other Irish who are LDS and make some of these LDS jokes.

Its funny cuz I am a non mormon, muslim, on a catholic schools, message board, sticking up for a school I hate. If recruits took the time to read this message board, and were subjected to all the riddiculous things people say, not one recruit would sign with the Irish. This is 2011, not the 1800's. Lets at least act like we love everyone.

ND. They did not play bowl games for 45 years. They beat Stanford in 1925 with Rockne, then not again until they played #1 Texas/Austin in 1970.

Quote from a random article from a sport magazine I will not mention, because I don't like what it tried to do to ND a while ago... Anyway...

Actually, for whatever the reasons, Notre Dame has quite possibly rendered a kind and philanthrophic service to a great many other schools by staying out of bowl games. A number of teams in the past would not have gone to so many postscason games had the Irish been available. It almost goes without saying that there are bowl sponsors among us who would tap dance and strum the banjo to get Notre Dame with even a 5-5 record. Such is the drawing power of its wildly loyal fandom, whose box-office tendencies have prompted Beano Cook, once of rival Pittsburgh and now of the television industry, to observe, "Notre Dame is the only team in the country that never plays a road game."

I love you.
