I think both teams win in this situation. Devon Harris is talented, but he is often injured and I've heard rumblings a cancer on the Nets team. The kid is young and has now been traded twice for the same reasons.

I'm by no means a Jazz fan but D-Will is a top 5 PG in the league. Some NBA experts consider him the best PG in the league. Look at the talent around him compared to a guy like Rondo. The comment about him being a cancer is unfair too. Sounds like you have something against him personally which I can't say that I understand since the guy does and says all the right things.

With all that being said, the Nets gave up a ton to get him.

Crud. I was hoping that Williams would sign with my Lakers.

IMO, both teams did well.

Harris and Favors are both great young players.

Williams is THE best PG in the NBA.

Not only that, Rose is probably the MVP at this point. If he could just get his jumper down, he would literally be unstoppable. It's shockingly impressive how he can simply drive by any defender, even when they are off him by a couple feet and KNOW he is going to try and drive by them rather than shoot most of the time.

yea if he could hit th jumper from outside he would be unstopable. if the bulls could get someone that can shoot from outside they are going to be tough to beat.

I though Korver was going to be that guy for them, but for some reasons he really hasn't found his stride there. Boozer and Noah are scary down low though come the postseason. If they match up with the Celtics again that would be another great series. Rose v. Rondo, Noah v. Perkins, Boozer v. Garnett, Gibson and Deng on Pierce and Ray. Pumped for the NBA playoffs.

He rode one of the top 5 coaches of all time out of Utah...no respect for him he's embarrasing and nothing against the Nets but he will ride them even further into the ground, he thought he had it bad in Utah, now he get's to play for an average coach and a below average franchise. Good luck with that.

I have a feeling the Nets are going to have a hard time holding on to him. As I posted in the other thread, it should be real interesting to see if they can get him to sign an extension or not this summer (he becomes eligible to sign on July 9th). Looks like it will be just him and Lopez for the foreseeable future now that they give up all their viable assets to acquire him without guaranteeing he will be there past 2012. Rumblings are that he was shocked and upset with the deal, so I do not envy the Nets position. No doubt they got a great player, but if I were a Nets fan I would have rather kept Favors and the two top drafts picks and rebuilt that way rather than trading my future away for a star who is signed for only one more year, a year which he will spend in that miserable NJ arena.

I kinda think the same....this guy caused a HOF coach, and a coach that had the longest tenure in north american sports to quit in the middle of the season. I'm not a Jerry Sloan fan by any means, but I see D-Will as the reason for rift between coach/player. I wont say he is a cancer, but obviously he thinks he doesnt have to listen to a coach.

In the past I would say that NJ would have trouble keeping him. But remember, Prokhorov is the owner now. I really believe he going to turn that franchise into a winner, it is just going to take some time. Considering he is the owner in teh NBA with the deepest of pockets and not just throwing money around tells me he is a smart bussiness man. He has built russian teams into winners in Russia, I think he can do the same here. He may have missed out on some big FA's, but I believe his(Prokhorov/NJ) time is coming. I keep hearing they are moving the team to Brooklyn (with a huge russian population there) and that would get DWill out of NJ.

The move to Brooklyn is happening in two years, which is right after when D-Will can become a free agent. If he chooses not to sign an extension, he will have never played for the Russian Nyets in NYC. In addition, Prokhorov and other rich owners can only do so much in terms of spending with the salary cap in place, and will only be more hardpressed to spend after the new CBA. In Russia he could use his status and money to effectively buy or entice players to his team, much like the Yankees do in baseball.

The Nets are effectively the Clippers East in terms of being a little brother to the Knicks in the city even after they move to Brooklyn. Don't believe me? Just look at Carmelo. He was BORN in Brooklyn, and has said he is a Brooklyn man through and through. If the Nets, Prokhorov and Jay Z really had that much pull you don't think they could have convinced Melo to spend a season and a half rebuilding in Jersey before a triumphant return to his home borough will an extension in hand? The fact that he would spurn his borough's team and the Mutant Russian Mark Cuban simply shows they the Nyets do not have the drawing power the Knicks do in the city despite the aforementioned advantages they possess.

Now the Nyets are stuck with a presumably unhappy star PG, who they will have trouble locking up and could be a free agent next summer, with no other real viable players or assets besides Brook Lopez and their 2 remaining first round picks. I honestly think by giving up Favors and the 2 other 1st rounders they have gambled an awful lot on the hopes they can convince one player to sign an extension when nothing is assured. If D-Will spurns them this summer they put themselves in another Melo situation where they will be effectively forced into trading him for as much as they can get or letting him test the free agent market, and could possibly be left with much less than they previously had. It's just my opinion, but I think they might have gambled too much on this deal and left themselves wide open to be a bottomfeeder for years.

Rose is the best pointguard in the league but darron williams is probably right behind as pure point guard. I honestly believe the nets did this trade today to steal some thunder from the knicks

seems like a reasonable assessment...I honestly don't know the guys coming, but they are regarded by the pundits fairly well.

...I know it sounds odd, but the thing I'm most frustrated about is that mere moments after the Jazz and Nets had a deal in spirit (no paper yet)...it was streaming on the ESPN ticker and Williams saw it before the Jazz management had a chance to talk to him...

whoever leaked that is scumbag A-hole whom I hope walks into a fist someday...damn front offce hangers on trying to be somebody...

He signed as a free agent with the Pistons along with Villanueva in the summer of '09. The Pistons have become a wasteland of good players recently though (i.e. Prince, Hamilton, Gordan, and Villanueva)

Agree. The sad thing is that we live in a day and age where everyone is racing to break the story first. I feel bad because my best friend is a Jazz fan and D-Will is his favorite player.

someone on espn yesterday said that williams and cp3 are in a race to be the knicks pg when they're eligible for free agency...if i were a knicks fan it would be cp3 in a heartbeat

the Nyets did defintely take a gamble, I mean if they dont sign deron williams they lose all that they traded away (favors, picks, etc) and will have nothing to show for it. That tells me that D Will is going to be in line for a max deal, near max deal from the nets. Prokhorov knows that he will have to pay Williams big money. If they dont treat him right, they can lose everything. its defintely a gamble.

I think CP3 will be a Knick. If he goes to NY, I believe they will compete with Miami. BOS, by the time CP3 gets to NY will probably be 'over the hill'. With roster upgrades, and teams like BOS aging fast, the Knicks are in a nice position to become a contender in the east for the next few years.

I used to think that CP3 was the better PG, but I think Deron Williams size might set him apart from CP3 and from Derrick Rose. Who knows, they are all really good PG's in their own way. I would lean more towards Deron Williams because of his size; Derrick Rose because of his quickness; CP3 because of his court vision
