We both come from a different age my friend, as well with others on here. And yes, times have changed - it is more "what have you done for me lately".

I guarantee you if our new leader Kelly doesn't do something HUGE in the next two or three years, he's gone - simple fact.

Eh. I am kind of torn about RR. I think if there are positives about the program, and a solid indication that the program is headed in the right direction after 3 years, then a fourth should be given. I think many saw the writing on the wall with RR, he'd have an awesome offense, but not a defense to keep up with anyone else in the big 10.

I don't think Kelly will be canned after 3 years if he doesn't do "anything big". I think he'd have to do something to really screw up i.e. winning only 6 game's next year, and 6 after that.

I swear that when i saw Denard Robinson run it in with 27 seconds left I almost had a heart attack. The whole drive I was reliving what had happened a year before that with Tate. I just kept saying "no, no, no, NOT AGAIN"

**** sakes Kelly needs to get his first UM victory next year or I will DIE.

All that being said... screw the fans, we'll settle it on the field of battle!!!

If we go 10-2 next year and say we lose to USC and Stanford, is there a difference if we lose Michigan St. again and Boston College?

You say really screw up only winning 6 games, what is the difference in only winning 9 or 10 but a better bowl game. I agree, I would like to see BK get at least a full 5 or 6 years in if the first 3 or 4 don't go perfect but, the hard truth is, the school, the fans and the boosters want a NC.

Who do they think he is?! Bob Diaco?! He might not be a bad Defensive Coordinator, but under Ty Willingham he served as recruiting coordinator (if I recall) which in that span we had our worst recruiting ever.

If they snag one 5* I'll be impressed...

It's not that simple. It's never that simple. If you think Michigan fans will let up on the bull**** after a victory in Ann Arbor this year, your living in a fairy tale world. They (like many other fans of big programs) will never be quiet and admit defeat. Did USC fans stop with their bull**** after we beat them on the road this year? Negative. It's never that easy!

There's no way with those kind of seasons that Brian Kelly would be fired. And if he is, there should be a revolt among the fan base to have him reinstated. I seriously doubt Swarbrick and/or Jenkins woud fire Kelly if he was winning 70% games, regardless if he hasn't won a title 5 or 6 years down the road.

The white elephant in the room has always been, "what if Brian Kelly fails at Notre Dame?"

The Irish finally have a real college coach who is a winner and has a lot of experience. Running him out of town by 2015 when he has ND as a perennial top 15 team with the excuse that he hasn't won a title, would have severely negative consequences.

I'm sure no one would want to endure the "If Brian Kelly can't win at title at Notre Dame, who can?" and the "Notre Dame has unrealistic expectations" talk that would sweep through the media for years afterward.

Every Irish fans worst nightmare should be Kelly "failing" at Notre Dame, but I don't think it's national title or bust within the next four or five years. If he has ND consistently winning 9 games a season and wins a BCS bowl or two, he'll be around for a long time, national title or not. I can't think the university would be that stupid to let him go in that sort of situation.
