Picked up a verbal offer from the Irish per Tom Lemming via Blueandgold. On the ESPN150 watch list for next year. Great dual threat QB, but a hard pull from the state with both Alabama and Auburn already offering as well.

It will be very difficult to get this kid out of Alabama, especially now that dual threat Cam Newton is tearing it up at Auburn.

It depends on what happens with Auburn as well. Not just as far as the NCAA investigation, but also with their offensive coordinator. I think there is a very good chance that he takes a head coaching job after this year to get out of the Auburn dilemna. He and Muschamp will be highly sought after in the off-season.

I agree...., also......, He would really need some strength conditioning for sure if we were to get him. His bench is a mere 185 lbs.?

We need to wait on reports from recruiting services who have seen all these kids. It's so hard to tell just from some highlight films - anyone can put together 20 good plays on a video, the question is if you do it repeatedly.

Nobody yet, but I will.

He was making quicker reads than Mauk against much better competition. He's taller than Mauk. He doesn't turn his back and run backwards at the first sign of pressure. Based on two 8 minute highlight reals, I would chose this kid over Mauk.

Like Canadian said, it's tough to tell based on highlight videos. And I agree that us having a shot in hell depends on what goes down at Auburn (I don't see him playing at Bama, but I could be wrong.) If I was Georgia Tech, I would be recruiting this kid hard.

Tell me why you think Mauk is that good? Is it hisinflated stats? How his team plays.no competition? How his team does not run the ball? How he has the best attitude towards coaches lol? Give me some things he does that you like? Going by a highlight film is the worst thing you can do because those are highlights. Watch an entire game against a good team and you will see he is good...but not that good.

agreed plus Winston's highlight tape showed runs and throws about 53-47%, so go watch the throws and tell me he has no arm or touch. He may be the next in line of the running QB's.
By the way, Winston doesn't even like Alabama or Auburn per II interview, but is more of an Oklahoma fan. He said he is wide open and wants to stay that way about his recruitment.

Staff is spreading a wide net with QBs this year. Pike, Winston, Kiel, and Mauk have all received interest.

This kid (Winston) is an absolute stud. I don't see him leaving Alabama though.

You forgot Miles. Miles was probably the best QB down at the AA JR combine.

As much as I'd love to, we aren't stealing this kid from Saban. He's an Alabama lock from everything I've heard.

I'd be fine if we just decide to roll the dice with Mauk this year and go for an elite quarterback in the '13 class with the current logjam of young, potential starters that we already have, but if Kelly is convinced that one of the '12 kids could be his star then it better Kiel. Out of the guys we're recruiting, I'd say he's far ahead of everyone else in talent and polish with Mauk as a project with intriguing upside. Out of the other top talents in the '12 class, we don't really have a shot at Winston, Connor Brewer just committed to Texas, and I'm pretty sure that Greyson Lambert is staying in the south.

Maybe they throw it that much because Mauk is that good. The defenses have to be playing pass first and he's still putting up those numbers. Kelly is a much better judge of talent than I, so I will defer to his choice. It is nice to have a discussion about which of the top 5 QB's we should next year. Scout has designated 12 kids as 5* players for next year. ND is on 6 of those kids list of schools they are interested in. That was not the case last year at this time.

This is gonna be good!
