So then maybe the coaches know more about who they might be obtaining next year...

It seems really odd to me that ND hasn't offered him. From what I've read, he sounds awesome. An Indiana kid, 4-stars across the board and sounds like a leader. What's the hang up?

Of course, someone of his caliber from Indiana should not be snubbed a scholarship from ND. We don't want to lose some of our hot spots here in Indiana. I mean honestly there isn't a heaping ton of talent here. Possibly heaping tons of other things though...

I saw him play in person three times last year and Remound is a very impressive back. He is extremely strong for someone of his stature and his agility is also phenomenal. His top end speed isn't elite (That 4.55 number in the 40 is probably the most accurate of what I have seen). I think he would do very well at Notre Dame and I think he will almost certainly have a nice career at Stanford (if that is where he ends up this week).

Like someone stated, I will defer to the staff and their stance on prospects for the 2012 class if we're going to let Remound go. I don't think not offering him will at all cool Dwenger, or other Indiana schools from sending their best to Notre Dame. It is disappointing, I know, for Dwenger faithful (my church is split between Luers and Dwenger faithful) but they too understand the business of major CFB recruiting. If an in-state kid is worthy and the Irish offer, 9/10 times we'll get that kid if he meets admission standards. Notre Dame is still T-H-E destination for most Hoosier kids, even if they didn't grow up Notre Dame fans, especially with the current state of football in Bloomington and West Lafayette.

Here is what I see:
1. He is not a four star acrossed the board.( 62 on ESPN) Barely in rivals top 250.
2. He is small.
3. Why is he a must offer? His offer list is not that impressive. Only top tier team is Stanford. Obviously alot of schools do not have him high on their list.
4. So you read a few articles and now you onow he needs to be offered? Maybe you even.saw a highlight film. Thos can make anyone look good.

Leave it up to the staff. They obviously know what they are doing.

He's a very talented back, but IMO he isn't a jaw-dropping talent. He will undoubtedly be the kid, that in three years, will have Tom Hammond saying, "...and there goes Wright a kid from ND's own backyard who is having a career game here in Notre Dame Stadium. He told us growing up that blah blah blah blah."

He'll be good, but I'm sure the 2012 crop has a few studs who we will put on the full court press for. This year we needed DE/OLBs and we made that priority 1 and we got them. Next year, who's to say we won't accrue similar talent at the RB position. I've got faith in our staff.

Well I also don't want this to be the start of snuffing in-state players from playing at Notre Dame. Indiana might not always provide your star players, but it can definitely provide some of your depth and it's right there for ND's taking. Like I'd hate to see us not offer/pick up Gehrig Dieter next season.

I certainly see your point, but there lies the rub of the situation. Do you offer these 'depth players' (and in no way am I saying Remound or Gehrig Dieter would fit this category) from Indiana who would commit that instant as opposed to holding out for top national talent, who this staff obviously has the ability to bring in?

I don't view this as a snub of Indiana prep talent. Rather, it looks like it just wasn't a fit this year. Notre Dame has a good track record of going after the best Indiana has to offer. This single situation should have no future impact on recruiting the top in-state talent. Purdue and IU are regional/in-state universities. Notre Dame is a national brand.

Sometimes those players are the ones who get shunned by the recruiting services. The ones who have a chip on their shoulder and play like they always have something to prove.

He was at the Blue and Gold Game with Springmann. I wouldn't count him out yet alot has changed at Stanford since he committed.

Hammond better be out of the booth by then...

Really liked this kid's character. Best of luck to him (except when he plays ND).
