OMM: Yes, this class is fantastic right now. That's 1638 MDT. That being said, IMHO, if secure more of what is mentioned in this thread, I think our class will/would compete with sheer quality and quantity with a team such as Texas...

I said it. I know. So hate me haters.

Now factor in our coaches, and we got this.

"We gonna be beast."

I have a vision of this Behemothic force piling bodies back into the opposing backfield from the righthand side, and a two-headed Dragon violently blasting, one after the other, on the left. Tuitt is there. Lynch and Williams should be. Man, it will be fun! Beast it is!

Diaco may certainly have an amazing force with strong emotions and ability; Will he harness the force of what it has for the right reasons and be the Jedi, valiant and loyal, or will it's anger and hate consume other teams, and become the Dark Side?

Will our defense be hated for it's enormity and unwelcome domination?

Or will it be respected and coveted, unchallenged and dominant with confidence?

My prediction for the week/month:

Amir on saturday will be Irish.

Scarlett on Thursday will be a golden bear.

Lynch will be Irish after fridays visit.

Savon will stay home at Rutgers.

Troy Niklas will stay on the west coast.

Ishaq will be at Penn State this week.

Im trying so hard to not drink the kool-aid and thinking that the Irish could potentially land Ishaq wednesday, Scarlett thursday, Lynch friday, Amir saturday, and close the month off with Savon on the 28th and Niklas on the 29th on his visit. haha amazing.

Our Behemoth and our Dragons will send many Denizens of Evil limping to the sidelines...but they'll tell them "nice game" when they visit them in the hospital...that's after they smilingly helped several little ladies to safety cross the street.

P.S. The purpose of Green Kool-Aid is to enjoy it...Mountain William.

Nick Martin is now Irish

Updated Savon Huggins

Room for 3 more for sure, can make room for 4, and maybe 5 if Floyd leaves.

My guess (and this is entirely a guess)

Carlisle 90% he is Irish
Lynch 75% (but that can change by the time i wake up tomorrow)
Ishaq 50%
Niklas 50%
Scarlett 30%
Huggins 5%

At this point, I'd rather have Carlisle than Huggins. Character wise, he seems like the better fit for ND.

Removed Brennan Scarlett

Big weekend for ND:
Lynch will make his OV to ND
Tuitt will be visiting GaTech

Kelly is, generally trying to put one guy into each position. He rightly decided that previous years were shallow in DBs and decided to go one over there; sacrificing the NT position [my guess is that he felt that the "crop" of NTs this year was slim and we were on the outside of those few that there were. Look for him to try to hit that maybe twice next year.]

If you look across our Defense, Kelly lacks one linebacker and one DE. Lynch will be like delayed Christmas, and Ishaq [who I am a lot more nervous about] would be the second present. This is why he was also hoping for Scarlett and surprisingly at MLB---Counsell and Rabasa would be slotted for OLB with Grace the lone middle.

On Offense, he has one player for each spot [assuming both Carrico and Springmann are O] except for a slot receiver and/or RB [with McDaniel providing the versatility]. This is why he's personally visiting Carlisle.

He has a kicker and is pursuing a long snapper. Unless you have huge numbers deficits somewhere, this is the best strategy for recruiting: get someone for each spot. Kelly, as usual, has both brains and salesmanship.

There was only 1 offer at NT this year. We currently have 5 DT's in a 3-4 so we are pretty stacked. Next year is a good crop with Armstead, Schutt and Goldman. Not sure if the staff would want to take 2 with only 13 guaranteed spots.

Jason, I hear you. If we're that limited then "no" I wouldn't expect two. But it is a big risk to let a bevy of position players go out the gate at the same time and then hope for no injuries in the one or two you have left. Maybe Kelly wouldn't mind not going for his max this year as a strategic move.

I would expect more room. People do transfer and not all 5th years will be asked back but it is gonna be a small class, and yes we WILL need a NT.

I don't think we will make a top 5 class but a top 10 class is possible.

Care to change your outlook, yet?

I think we end top 3.

I'm just gonna really be bummed if we miss out on Carlisle. But Lynch, and Williams will be great.

Who else do we secure?

No considering Florida State is loaded and still in the mix for just about everyone.

Texas isnt dropping out of the top 3.

Alabama is in the mix.

Oklahoma is not going anywhere.

Only chance we have a top 5 is Lynch and Amir this weekend. Then we will need to steal Savon, Houshell, or Niklas. Long shot.

Don't forget how many ESPNU 150 prospects are uncommitted. These top teams will also get better my friend. I would love to be wrong about this.

Our ranking number actually doesn't make a lot of difference; all we/Kelly care about is that we got high quality player-prospects for each position we were looking for. An extreme case of this would be if "pro-style" QBs were so highly thought of that you had to get a couple of them if you wanted to win the "rankings war". But being Kelly, you don't want that kind of QB. A real situation that occurs this year is that Kelly wants Brindza. A kicker kills us in the recruiting rankings as he can't be more than a Two-Star. What we're shooting for is "high-quality" and if we get it that, as a side effect, will put us up somewhere high in rankings. That's all we care about.

Both things will coalesce---watch our four and three stars grow, my friend. Talent+coaching+on-field reps&execution= nothin' but victories. We're getting plenty of talent; we've got elite coaching developers; all we need are the snaps. Think Boise State in jumbo size [I was going to say "on Steroids" but that wasn't quite the right message]. We're Gunna Be Beast, big fella.

Updated for obvious reason. Numbers are very tight with 4 (Amit, Niklas, Hounshell, and Hayes) targets left to decide. It will be interesting to see if scholarships are withdrawn or not

According to bleacher report, Savon will be Irish so don't count him out haha. I still think we squeeze two more in this class. If we can get one of Niklas/Hounshell and one of Savon/Amir, then we will be more than set.

Can we all agree to never use Bleacher Report as a reference. Just think of this as a class.

NO WIKIPEDIA
NO BLEACHER REPORT

It was a joke. Hence the HAHA. I never use Bleacher Report as a reference in a serious sense.

I think Bleacher Report is on to something though. I think Savon likes limelight, and now ND has the spotlight to end the recruiting game.

We may end of with Savon or Amir, or both.

You, my friend, and I are usually on the same wave length. I completely agree. 24 is a max in this class (unless the planets align and Clowney calls up and wants in).
