He really liked his visit and gelled really well with the players and other commits.

According to ISD, he had a great time and his mother had a lot of nice things to say about the visit too.

He's planning on making his decision before Christmas.

I'd say there's an 80% chance he switched to Notre Dame. Hell, if I played for Missouri and my son got an offer from Notre Dame to play sports there, I'd take it in a heart beat.

You almost begin wondering whether Diaco sees one or more OLBs turning into speed ILBs or slobberknocker strong Safeties?? West Virginia has a freak safety who is 6'5" and a running blaster. And Brian Smith's good speed for an ILB looked awfully good in the last three games....

I just want Diaco to get athletes, and lots of them. Let him figure out what to do with them - he's done an admirable job with the same talent that was terrible last year. Like I said in another thread, he's building something special.

Let's not forget that we lose Brian Smith, Kerry Neal, Steve Filer and Darius Flmming the next couple of years. Need to restock the cupboard.

Everything I've read has this guy as a "late bloomer" type. Could be a steal.

My concern with him is that he doesn't have the hips to turn into coverage. Speed is the only thing that compensates for this and I don't know that he excels in that department either. I just can't see him at any other place than a 4-3 DE.

As other posters have noted, he has grown significantly in the past year, much like KLM did in his senior year which led to our late interest. I see them as similiar prospects with similiar recruiting stories, and time with Longo will allow Shane to play DE in the future. There is also the fact that over the past couple of games Diaco has tinkered with the Dline and used more 4 man fronts. Getting a player like Shane allows Diaco a lot more flexibility in using both 3 and 4 man lines when the situation (or opponent) calls for it. Plus, I welcome any player who is lauded for his intensity and relentlessness (i.e. backside pursuit); you simply can't teach effort.

Very surprised. I thought we had a very solid chance at him. I really hope we can land some of the big fish now to round out this class.

Just looking back and we almost landed this guy. Number 7 on Mel Kippers big board. Had no idea he was this good
