i posted this before, but chuck martin will be a candidate. if RR falters, i will not be looking forward to the off-season. CM was a stud HC in michigan.

for this reason alone i hope UM has a respectable season to avoid our guy leaving.

He may be a candidate but when was the last time Michigan hired another team's ASSISTANT coach as their head coach?

Carr, a long time UM assistant, got bumped up when Moeller got aarrested on a drunk charge and resigned. All the other UM coaches I'm familiar with had Div 1 experience before being hired by UM.

Of all Michigan fans, the ones that aren't what I call "casual" fans (watch the games, know the stars and no other players) complain about how Rodriguez simply demolished that pro-style tradition and how they really want it back. I think they'd love Golden, though it would take some getting used to for the diehard Michigan fans.

I think Cincinnati will be a good team this year, just not the team they were last year. They still have to get by Pitt, West Virginia, and even UConn this year.

The Big East sure isn't the best conference out there, but I think it's a little underrated. They still throw a Top 10 team out there every year. '09 and '08 it was Cincy, '07 West Virginia, '06 Louisville, etc. And, every team in the Big East except Louisville and Syracuse had 8 wins last year. That's more then the Big Ten, and the same amount as the Big 12.

i am not familiar with UM pre-carr era, but thanks for the information.

i do agree it is a bit of stretch, but chuck martin is *the-man* in michigan, so i think it will be under consideration....(even if it is like the third or fourth option).

Uh, they lost one guy off their defense from last year(Witten). The entirety of the defense is basically back with the exception of Lloyd, who was switching positions and got hurt. They should have one of the better linebacking corps in the country this year and they have a young and talented d-line.

Todman's a better back than Dixon. Mind you, they lost Donald Brown to the NFL before last season and didn't skip much of a beat on the ground. They also have a great offensive line.

Cinci bringing up the rear? First of all, they still bring back a lot of talent. 2nd, they bring in a coach who is a lot like Brian Kelly, in fact is a Brian Kelly disciple. 3rd, Brian Kelly's teams have done very well after he has left them.

And 4th, there is a school named Syracuse that is way worse. Also, Louisville sucked last year, fired their coach and won't be as good this year, even with new coach Charlie Strong. South FL self-destructed last year, fired their coach and have major question marks. The jury is still out on Rutgers as well.

I'm in the camp with others that responded who said that Cinci will be a good team next year. Not great, but certainly not a last place team. What the TE said was stupid, but that doesn't mean they'll suck. Eventually, I wouldn't be surprised if they sucked again unless they continue to put more money in the program like they started doing under BK. But next year, with their returning QB and offensive talent and the continuity that Coach Butch brings, they'll be good.

Oh, and UCONN isn't favored to win the Big East next year, it's Pitt. Even the coaches voted Pitt as the favorite.

The point of me rehashing this thread is that I see it all the time on this board, people call something out only to get mocked at or ridicule.
