South Bend Tribune has a story already on him....
South Bend Tribune: Notre Dame football: Carrico buys into Kelly's vision for ND

Biggest thing that popped out at me is, well other than he is committed:

Good Stuff, hope this starts off a great class...GO IRISH!!

Also said that he already started recruiting other guys. His good friend Chris Rock (insert soon-to-be-tired comedian joke here) is a big ND target who had a great visit as well and was 'definitely impressed' according to Steve Wiltfong...

I think he plans on enrolling early. Still, he's a big, athletic kid.

You're correct. Mea culpa. I posted it listed in his profile in the first post in this thread.

To restate, when Preseason Practice starts in '11, Carrico will be at Div 1 playing weight regardless of which side of the ball he plays on.

If he's an early enrolle, he counts on last year's scholly count... allowing us to still recruit the 19.

Other than having another scholarship open what is the benefit available for Carrico enrolling early. One of the main reasons for doing this is getting freshman ready to play right away. Carrico will have an impact but i see him possibly redshirting

There are several benefits. He gets a start on his freshman academics without a full semester of football obligations. He'll probably come in at Div 1 playing weight but won't have the strength of a Div 1 lineman nor the technique. Coming in early gives him 8 months of a Div 1 Strength and Conditioning Program and now a Div 1 Training Table. He may well sit out his freshman year particularly if moved ot the OLine. Many of the ND early enrollees haven't seen the field their freshman season.

Carrico Will Enter ND Early

Carrico Will Enter ND Early

Per Steve Hare in a premium article on IrishIllustrated

Carrico set for early admission

7/6
Brad Carrico returned to Notre Dame last Monday on a mission to clear a path for early enrollment. By the time the 6-foot-6, 255-pound defensive end left South Bend two days later, the course for January admission had been set.

Scout moved up him two slots from #61 to #59 but they still list him as an OT rather than DE. We'll get to see where Kelly sees him next Spring in the Blue and Gold game.

Carrico Moves to HS OT

Carrico Moves to HS OT

Carrico debuts at OT; Northwestern offers Bradley - ESPN

On Friday night, Notre Dame's defensive line commit Brad Carrico (Dublin, Ohio/Coffman) debuted at offensive tackle. He did not play offense during his junior season, but has been moved to that side of the ball for his senior season.
The Shamrocks run the spread offense and Carrico has switched sides of the ball to protect senior quarterback Cole Stoudt, also a major college prospect.
Carrico was recruited by the Irish as a defensive tackle, but it remains to be seen if that is where he finally settles in once he arrives in South Bend. It is not out of the question he could end up on the offensive side of the ball in Brian Kelly's spread offense.

Needs of the team come first.

I had read Brad had been banged up in the preseason so this is good news.

I wish Brad well in his senior season. Also, I think it is great he is getting experience at the position he will likely play at ND.

Not sure if anyone saw this or not, but Carrico partially tore his MCL this past weekend. He's planning on wearing a brace and playing through the injury. Hopefully he doesn't do any further damage. Here's the link from ISD:

That doesn't seem like the best idea...

Hold off young man: hit the weight room, rehab, come to college with the big boys.

Yeah I tried to play through a few slipped disks in my neck. 4/5 doctors said I shouldn't. But I did, and then wrestled. All-Star game rolls around in the summer and I get the "Ummmm, you should probably never play football again. You're in terrible shape." There goes my collegiate career. :/

I would advise this guy to take it easy. He's got a world-class education and an amazing experience waiting for him in South Bend. Don't blow it.

Good status from Brad on facebook.
Sick of these Dublin people...the only thing that keeps me going is high school football and the motivation to do some nice things at ND on the field and in the classroom
Another right kind of guy.

oh no. We need DE! that means we only have one true DE committed if Carricco goes to O line.

You've got to be careful with partial tears. If you don't let them heal they will become nagging injuries and/or completely junked up with scar tissue and you will never get back to 100%. Just ask my right shoulder.

I have been told that there is no such thing as a partial tear anyway... a tear is a tear... not a med student but I have been told that by peps who claim to know
