I did, as no doubt you guys have been doing, a projection of next year's O-line personnel based upon either Carrico and Springman moving over or one moving and we get another commit. When you line them and the returnees up you actually have THREE deep high potential lines. Next year Lombard is almost certainly going to put in a powerful bid to start. Nichols maybe, too. Of the new guys, it is Hegarty that everyone has raved about with Prestwood not far off. ND should be loaded.

Whereas we had great depth at the offensive skill positions over the past few years, there's been a definite shift to build depth on both lines and in the linebacking corps.

As an amusement: Line#1--LT/Martin; LG/Lombard; C/Cave; RG/Robinson; RT/Dever.-------Line#2--LT/Hegarty; LG/Prestwood; C/Watt; RG/Nuss; RT/Nichols; --------Line#3--LT/Carrico; LG/Hanratty; C/Golic; RG/Bullard; RT/ Springman? ...... or mix-&-match due to your better estimation as to proper positional fit. [Purpose of list is not to be correct but to show that we're loaded.]

And we are loaded with good talent. I love the fact that we have such depth on that line for next year. This will allow guys to learn the system. If we have a guy go down to injury, then we should still remain productive, because we have guys that should be able to step in.

Has anyone stated that Carrico and Springman are being recruited as offensive linemen? I know the h.s. coach of one of these young men and the defensive talent is definitely underrated. The young man has a battery of skills that screams perfect fit as a 3-4 DE, a position that has significantly less depth than OL, (now).

The concept of Carrico or Springman going over to offense has only been speculation created, one assumes, by the bulk of D-line talent either committed [Lynch/Tuitt] or still in play. Since people never seem to mention these guys as NTs, speculation has arisen about O-line [and Carrico is playing OT now we've heard.]Just speculation--only the staff and their board know what's being communicated.

Great season, selected to the army all-american game, and will come in January.

His season still isn't over. His team had a bye week and an auto berth to the quarterfinals in NM-4A play-offs. His team has the most PF vs. PA margin in 4-A ball in NM. Aztec is a favorite by many for laying claim to the title. They have a tough road ahead with the likes of Belen, and Goddard, both of which have also posted flawless records up to this point.

Hegarty is solid Irish.

Maybe it is because Carricco moved to oline this year in high school. Just a thought. He was not a great d tackle but is built more for oline.

We have a lot of verbals to be very excited over, and Hegarty is one of my favorites ever since I watched his workout at some sort of camp. Talk about great feet!!

I am one who is very excited for him to come to Notre Dame. We see how important it is to have a good Oline, and with our passing attack, and a good RB we really need that. And this kid looks to be a gem for years to come. And with the young guys we have on this line, I am estatic.

Thanks Matt for Choosing the Irish, we welcome you with open arms. You are entrusted to keeping our QB off his back :)

Go Irish!

Are they playing Belen?

Aztec beat Belen. They will be playing Artesia this coming Saturday for the 4A state championship. The game will be in Artesia, 30 minutes up the road from where I live. I'm thinking about catching the game. But Artesia will promise to be a formidable foe. They beat the heavily favored 2 time defending champion in semis this weekend, in the Goddard Rockets...

Go Hegarty!

Yes...

It is in fact weird. I'm not sure why NM has play-offs and championships at non-neutral locations.

That being said, Artesia has the infrastructure to support the event and I'm certain that's where the situation was directed. Of course having rich oilfield men in the city to make an awesome venue helps. Artesia has press boxes to rival some college settings...

The basketball championships for all divisions are in Albuquerque at the Pit, though. Soccer championships are at a soccer facility north of Albuquerque. Baseball championships are on the west side of Albuquerque.

Probably comes down to facilities and potential revenue.

Yes it is very wierd, but from my understanding the rules in NM are that a school is not allowed to travel to the same school back to back years in the playoffs. For example, Artesia had to play Aztec in Aztec last year, and due to this rule Aztec is forced to travel down to Artesia this year.

Ahhh, I see. It makes perfect sense. I had heard that, but Artesia always seems to benefit. Cooper Henderson is a stud muffin supreme. A few college scouts have said his practices are the best highschool practices they have ever seen. I believe it was Bob Stoops' guys when they picked up Landry Jones from them a few years back.
