It just doesn't make sense for him, considering a few good NFL jobs will be opening up

IF that actually happens then you can forget about swiping up any of their current commits

...while he isn't "like" Poodle, they share a trait, and that is they are both master motivators/button pushers. Gruden is a smart dude...I am positive he saw what Poodle did...and took notes.

If I'm Gruden I say, Geez I can make NFL $$$, no pro athelete BS, kids will run through walls for me, program is down, so I can be a God, its in Florida, and I know I can beat Urbie at the recruiting game...wy not?

This is potentially bad, if true.

Jon Gruden is not a proven college head coach, but he is a great coach and could adapt to the college game.

True. He just strikes me as more of an NFL guy to me and there are some good jobs available and that are gonna become available

God please, let this be true. Anything to get that guy off of my TV on Monday Night Football.

I love Gruden as a coach, but I hate the way he picks one guy out each Monday night, and just absolutely RAVES about them even if they make an everyday play that they SHOULD make.

agree...there are some franchises in need of a kick in the tail...Dallas comes to mind. ...I look at the rest of the opportunities, and except for the niners, I don't see him there...

He certainly is no John Madden.

This would be absolutely terrible for us if we plan on recruiting in Florida going forward. There are simply not enough recruits to go around between UF, The U and FSU. I'm shocked he would go to Miami... but at that price, I guess it makes plenty of sense.

I'd like to see him go to Miami.

I kind of like Gruden, he has a deep respect for Notre Dame, I think he'll be entertaining at Miami (in a good way) and I'm not really convinced he'll be a good/great coach and recruiter down there so I don't think we'd have a LOT to worry about.

Looks like everyone in the sports world has this rumor up on their twitter pages. Miami boards are on the edge of their seats.

I thought Chucky would go NFL before college, but if this is true, think about how tough our 2012 schedule looks if Chucky goes to Miami and Harbaugh goes to Michigan. Then factor in recruiting.

USC, Texas, Florida...take a back seat. You had a fun decade. ND, Miami, Michigan, and FSU are starting to make the moves back up

You don't think Miami would go after Gus Malzahn, Will Muschamp, or Al Gorden?

Good news for Miami if true....but I just have a hard time believing he would leave that much money off the table from a potential head coaching vacancy just to coach college.

Agreed. The report that they are close to working out a contract for around 3 million a year is laughable to me when he would command over 6 million(at least) a year as an NFL coach.

Time to wait and let this play out. For what its worth I'm pretty sure there was initial interest from Bob Stoops last year but he wanted about twice as much as we were willing to pay him. Then again, that was just word on the street, so who knows how accurate that was. Just like this.

Why would Gruden want to go to college. He is a proven, Super Bowl winning head coach. He can demand top dollar at the NFL level. Why would he want to take a job that requires him to recruit 17/18 year old kids to come play for him?

I don't see this happening. Obviously this is personal opinion and speculation, but the guy has a Super Bowl ring, and there are going to be job openings in the NFL, where he doesn't have to deal with nearly the amount of bull**** in the college game. Coupled with more money, and I think this is highly unlikely. I could be wrong, it wouldn't be the first time, but in my evaluation of the situation, I don't see this happening.
