I wasn't sure what to think after the NAvy and Tulsa debacles but Kelly has done with this team waht Chralie failed to do....Persevere! This team especially on D has contiued to adjust and improve by leaps and bounds the last 3 games. I think we could beat UM, NAvy and the Spartans if we played again. I think every team we played will be in a bowl game except for a scrappy Purdue and a dirty USC. This should be a 10-2 team. As far as I'm concerned this season is an above average success especially when you consider our injuries. We get Floyd and Rudolp back next we will be ranked in the top 20 to start the season. When you can beat BC, USC and Pitt in the same season it is a success. The xtra pratvces should really help. I think we developed a very good backup QB but Rees will not get us to a BCS game. Crist needs to do his studying of the spread and recuperate ahead of schedule again. With Rees in there it has been vanilla with no chocolate sauce. We have some weapons and I look forward to getting it in overdrive.

Dont be so sure floyd and rudolph might leave. I hope not but they might. I am on cloud nine right now but I think this season was good not great. Beating UC made it all worht it but i still have that frustrating feeling that we could be 10-2 right now because now I know we had that potential in us. Still a great win and something to reall build on

Rudy should be back... MF is 50/50 imo... with the strike weighing in heavily...

anyway I can assure you that no one... NO ONE... is happier about the win than me, period... as happy? sure, but no one is happ-IER...

with that said this has been a disaster of a season... not to be a complete kill joy but honestly... the injuries... to lose to the state of Michigan (the parts that matter) in heart breaking fashion... the D.S. loss... Toledo and Navy... the Chi. Times Story... freakin train wreck of a season... hard to grasp at times

BUT, all those considered,... to be able to beat Utah and USC to end it.... unreal, and if these guys can find a way to beat whatever team from florida we end up playing (sounds like UM or FSU) then man alive what a huge momentum push for the future!!!!

but don't kid yourself... we still have a big bowl and even with a win if you consider this a success then you must not have the same vision of ND I have... before tonight this may have been the worst season I've ever seen in my 30 years... after tonight it passes 07 but still... consider all that has gone wrong and all that has been lost... we got a long way to go before I use to word "success" in describing an ND season.

just my two cents.

lots of up and downs this year thats for sure. that said, with learning a new system and losing 4 or 5 top players out with injury and still an improvement in record id say it was a step in the right direction.

But isn't this all the more reason to be amazed at how well it turned out? There is no was a CW-, TW-, or BD-coached team would have showed the resolve this team has shown down the stretch. I'll admit that I was a Kelly supporter from the beginning, but I think this really says something about the culture change that is happening before our very eyes. I think all of the aforementioned is all the MORE reason to think this season was a great success. It's not about what happened, but more about how they handled and responded to what happened.

Alot of people wanted to throw Kelly away and some of one here weren't quite ready to do that yet and look what happens. His cocahing staff did a great job turning tis team along with getting the very best out of their players.

I'm just really kinda happy the UM, Tulsa or MSU games didn't turn in to 2 or 3 more victories... Then we would have gotten corn holed in a BCS game. ND is right where it needs to be right now.

I disagree.

I think we have to distinguish between a successful season and a "train wreck" of a season. And I can't even say that this season was even close to the abomination that 2007 was.

If we're to trot out the "we should be a BCS level team" line and all that, yeah this season wasn't very successful, but in a lot of ways this season has been a huge success.

good post

good post

five losses are five losses, and that is way too many. But the team did rebound from the mid-season disasters (Navy and Tulsa) and finished strong making 2011 look like it will be a fun season.

I think overall the season was saved by this team playing better football than when the season started. We have gone through so much adversity but in the end it made this football team much much better. We have been dealt blow after blow with injuries, we have a new coaching staff installing new systems in place across the board, the Declan incident and a couple of close games that we lost that we should not have lost. This team is not great yet, but it is getting better and better. Next year is starting to look nice and for the first time in awhile I really feel hopeful for nice things to come. My hat goes off to this program for overcoming the obstacles thrown to them and for digging deep and playing the way they are capable of playing.
