Barry sanders is not an "example" that running backs don't need blockers any more than Jim Abbott was an "example" that pitchers don't need two arms. Or that Lawrence Taylor was an example that linebackers can be crack-heads and make the Pro Bowl.

He is an outlier. There is a big difference.

I don't think I would have put it quite that way, but I think your point makes some sense.

I say keep the scholarship for Hayes, keep going after Huggins- and Huggins only at RB. I'd like to know how much Kelly's staff keeps up with their verbal commitments, when was the last time ND lost these many good recruits in a class??

I don't know about this many high ranked recruits. I know that you will lose recruits but not normally this many. However i have faith in Kelly and his staff to get outstanding players for this team.

A lot seem to think Rocky Top has the inside track here. Looks like ND is on the outside looking in.

Good let him go to Knoxville.. Derek Dooley isn't going to do crap there anyways and they'll be looking for a coach in 2 to 3 more years! I know it, Irish Man3, and Go Blue knows it. We all live in this infested pumpkin patch land they call Tennessee orange..

In that case, maybe we should offer Charlie Weis's son to play running back in a couple of years. As long as he has a good line in front of him, he will be an all-american.

Per Rivals - New reports are stating that distance played a factor.

His coach has been directed to contact with MSU and UM. No mention of UT, although I, personally, think he has a good probability of ending up there.

Coach also specifically mentions that Chuck Martin has been very upfront during the recruiting process.

Hint.

hmmmmm.....I'll take that optimistically Terry.

Very good.

"Surprise Visitor" at Utah game.

Chuck Martin is very upfront about the process.

No new offers flying out the door.

I'm interpreting this as either ND started to slow play him, or we have a potential big name in the works at slot and/or RB.

No new offers at this point indicates something is in the works. No reason to panic.

It's always that excuse, well, if he goes to Tennessee we'll know it was pure poppyc*ck. So what the hint Terry?

Additional quote from the coach says this goes way beyond a misunderstanding a football game

Well I certainly hope there is something to this. Hopefully it all adds up to Savon Huggins who I would much prefer anyway. Also, do we still not know who this surprise visitor was?

Interesting information Terry. Sounds like ND may be close to closing on some big talent and coach Martin may have warned Justice to keep his options open. This might (and I emphasize might) be Justice Hayes' way of avoiding an undesirable depth situation should it pop up.

I am optimistic that we will land somebody with the talent suited to Kelly's offence.

I think it ended up being the Martin kid, his brother Zack Martin is on ND and he showed up to watch him. So it was twisted into a "surprise visit". That is what i have heard anyways

Not exactly the surprise I've been hoping for. I'm sure he's a great kid but not really what I wanted to hear.

you guys aren't listening closely to the Man [Terry]. Another OT isn't going to be cause for Hayes to go looking elsewhere [though I'm a big fan of getting at least one more OT too]. You'll never find "Miss Scarlett in the bedroom with ...er...nothing at all" with that level of reasoning. [ No, Brennan Scarlett has nothing to do with this...unless of course it's a conspiracy....}

does he really think he's going to get a lot of chances to run with robinson running the ball every play?
i cant believe he'd feel more comfortable at michigan than ND.That's like being more comfortable with a pineapple shoved up your *** than without one.

Maybe in some sort of conspiracy he really wasn't trying to recruit for us!

MIKE: I am going with the conspiracy. I mean I really like a good conspiracy.

A couple of points:

We don't have a recruit until he makes the depth chart and the season starts. (See Badger and Boyd.)

No one, I mean no one you or I know can tell how a player is going to turn out and when. (Have you seen Kona Swenke this year??)

If wishes were horses, then beggars would ride.

Finally, you don't want to get in the payola business; (yes, football may get as bad as the recording industry in the '50's.) Google it.

Really final: When you have a family member working as an apologist, cut your losses, right from the beginning.

Guys, it's his loss. Good riddance. But show a wee bit of class. Calling a teenager a douchebag, whether he is or isn't, is going overboard on this site. Try to keep it respectful.
