I feel you, but Utah's the last game in ND Stadium for the senior class. It would go a long way towards making things right if the Irish can pull off that upset in front of their home crowd.

Stacking ND's most despised rival, against a chance to make a statement with a highly ranked and regarded intersectional rival, at home, that would bring more acclaim this year! It is hands down USC. I despise USC and Matt Barkely and Lane Kiffin. A win over USC will go a long way in recruiting as well. Helped recruiting in Utah or California? Not much of a question there.
I want BK to set the tone against Lane. What a huge win that would be for freshman Tommy Rees, on the road in Cali? I love it.

I really have nothing against Utah, though I would like to beat them. I think it would be better to get the Fugly USC monkey off our back, especially since it is the last game and assuming we beat Army(not a given) it will be the one that makes us bowl eligible. (Assuming Utah beats us, which is probable) Besides, Kiffen is a jerk.

Beating Utah would do so much more for this program then beating USC could ever do for us right now.
Not only would it be a win over a top 10 opponent,which is something we havn't done in something like 18 straight times....It might also help right the ship right now with recruiting.

I think there's definitely some truth in this. Especially because nobody will care about the USC game if we lose to Utah and USC drops one or two more.

I think beating Utah would be huge for the seniors and for the program, especially if the Utes beat TCU this weekend. In fact, that's my dream scenario... Utah beats TCU and then ND beats Utah, clearing the way for the Boise St vs Oregon NC game we all would love to see (we all=me).

i hate usc as much as anyone.
but beating them this year doesnt do as much as beating utah.
utah has the possibility of being undefeated and top5 by the time they come to south bend...usc isnt even ranked and is having a bad year.
yes i hate usc,but it doesnt do much,except adding the possibility of going to a bowl.

I agree. Utah is a better, higher ranked team. I want to see us beat Utah for momentum/confidence purposes, but I too hate USC so so much. So I would love to see us beat USC for the fact that it's been so long... Also, I will be there too. Excited.

but USC is USC. if we can beat them, and presuming we lose to Utah, that would put our record at 6-6 BUT with a victory AT u$c. didn't Holtz's first season end like that? 5-6 or something with a victory at USC?

You are right.., Army is not a gimme this year. We have seen what happens when we all think we will have a game in the bag and this idea that we will win certain games just doesn't hold up after our performances against some inferior opponents in recent years. As for Utah or USC..., I personally think that a win against a top 5 ranked Utah team would really be wonderous and would give us sign that things are going in the right direction and that we CAN win a big game against a high quality opponent. Utah is a tough team and they have proven it. We have not won against a highly ranked team in god knows how long. This win would be huge for us! Of course I will not complain if we can somehow manage an upset against USC.
