Well he did win MVP at some 7 on 7 tournament in Florida. Dude's got the skills to pay the bills!

Honestly, it looks like his first instinct is to turn his back to the play and run in a circle. He drops back 15-20 yards on a consistent basis. And he's a little short. On the other hand, it does look like he's got a cannon of an arm and he can make plays with his legs.

He's got huge project written all over him. I wouldn't mind it if we picked him up, but I'm not going to lose any sleep unless he's slated to start within 2 years of getting to ND.

Don't worry... Kelly will establish the fundamentals with him.

You can just tell that Maty is a QB with his arm/accuracy/awareness.

I want Maty to be the future of this team!

After watching that video I have to agree.

There's no denying his athleticism but his mechanics and throwing motion are suspect to say the least.

Perhaps we should see video of him from this year to see maturation?

(Not giving the kid a hard time, he would be a great get, but as IrishinSyria says: he looks like he may be a project.)

Just looked him up on an OSU fansite, they want him, but not that bad since they have the #1 QB in the country coming in 2011, several of them basically said if ND came calling, Mauk would go

I agree, perfect fit for BK's offence. Really a special prospect. Let's not forget that the 2009 tape is his sophomore season, which means a lot of time to get better.

Saw him play again Friday and the kid has a cannon. The prettiest pass I have ever seen in HS. TD pass from the 35 to the endzone on a rope. Easy 65 yds. Week 9 junior year and is already 2nd for career passing yards for the state of Ohio. Has a real good shot at breaking his brother Ben's H.S. national record for career yards of 15-16 thousand. I think his brother Ben played for Kelly at the Univ. of Cinn. a few years ago.

We gotta lock him down for next year's class. Crucial we get a solid QB in '12's cycle

Ben did play for Kelly. In fact, I think Kelly offered Maty at Cincy while Ben was playing for him. He is very high on our board there is no doubt about it.

For anyone who saw Ben play he was incredible despite playing through serious injuries. He finished his college career at Cincy and his last year I was really impressed with the way he ran the offense. If his brother is anything like him I would love to take him

I would be happy if we got this guy. He has a swagger and attitude that we have not had in a while on offense. If Kelly can control.him I say bring him. One note though. Do not pay attention to his throwing stats. His competition is terrible and the offense they run they do not have any true handoffs. They are all short throws so it inflates his passing numbers considerably.

I like this kid and hope we can get him. We really need to pick up a star QB in next year's class and he is one of the ones I would love to get in blue and gold. Nice to see that Kelly has a connection to this kid and his family too..., I like our chances.

Man this would be a huge plus for us ..... i watched some video on the kid and he looks pretty good. I'm hoping since Kelly already has tie's with the Mauk family .... it will put us in the front runner's for him. I liked his brother Ben also ....... i wish he would have just went to Cincy in the beginning instead of going to WF then Cincy, whatever .......

Ohio State is showing serious interest. If he is smart he will realize that he is not going to be next in line following Prior. The prize piece of their recruiting class is already in place. Braxton Miller is next in line and I hope Maty understands that.
