From a nutritional stand point alone, this stuff is HORRIBLE for your body.
It should not be sold to kids under 18 years old.

All of these Energy drinks are dangerous if you drink even a few of them. The scary thing is most of the kids nowadays drink the heck out of these things to get a rush or to get that Buzz of energy.

I drink 3-5 blue monsters (low carb) per month but only because I enjoy the taste and the carbonation. For some reason I like carbonation. I have many brutal meetings I attend. I took a 5 hour energy once and it seemed to work. I think their effects are mostly a psychological feeling of more energy with a small physical boost in energy. I took one a 2nd and 3rd time on separate occassions and it had no effect.

If they sold monsters and red bulls with no caffine, id still buy them.

The only thing that keeps me alert through a tough meeting is going to bed at a reasonable hour and when that fails, coffee. I usually only drink iced coffee from DD.

LOL..., man I hear you on this one. I have been through some brutal meetings and conferences where it has been nearly impossible to stay focused and I have also had Monster. For some reason I don't particularly care for Red Bull, but I enjoy the taste of Monster and it definently gives me an alertness boost.

Yeah can you imagine trying to work out or practice after drinking this garbage? I also have gotten dehydrated (too much caffeine and sugar) and also had an upset stomache drinking this stuff and I didn't do any big physical activity. It's no wonder more kids nowadays don't have more problems. Especially in the summer heat drinking this stuff, not enough water and trying to practice in high temps. Kind of scary.

Is NOS the most potent of the "gas station" energy drinks? Sounds like its almost double of Monster.

You almost had me? You never had me - you never had your car... Granny shiftin' not double clutchin' like you should. You're lucky that hundred shot of NOS didn't blow the welds on the intake!

You almost had me? Now, me and the mad scientist got to rip apart the block... and replace the piston rings you fried.

This could be the reason. If you notice a lot of my events get posted in the morning hours. The monster helps me calculate the moneyline odds into fractions and decide my vProps haha.

All of those energy drinks can cuase major heart problems.

I have never had any type of herbal supplement, any monster, red bull, or any other kind of 'energy' drink. Growing up a huge sports fan, i watched REggie Lewis fall over dead on the court and he was huge into herbal supplements. I saw Hank Gathers fall and die on the court as well. these images mortified me as a young sports athlete. i saw tip-top in-shape athletes dying from heart related issues. The fact that these supplements, and herbal remedies, and energy drinks are messing around with your nervous system, and effects your heart was reason enough for me to never have the desire to drink one of these drinks in any facet of my life. to this day, i have never had any type of those drinks.

Even though its a different story/situation, but the death of Len Bias 'scared me straight' even before I was old enough to use drugs. Because of Len Bias I never used any drugs (other than smoking some marijuana in my youth)

I'm just like the kid in the story (i was glad to see that he was still alive btw) I say stay away from that stuff. its all bad news.

You're stupid if you drink two NOS's and go out and play football. That's just plain reckless.

I drink energy drinks about once or twice a month if I really need to be focused for something. The only time I tried 5 hour energy I got sick but I had also been drinking. NOS is good though but I can't handle too much of it. Two in a row is insane.

I agree but the young kids doing this kind of stuff have no clue of the potential health ramifications. All they see are sports stars(mostly skateboarders and motocross) drinking the $hit out of this stuff.

I think alot of kids are just ignorant for the most part and don't really realize how dangerous drinking this crap can be prior to doing any kind of exhaustive activity. I had a soldier that loved those drinks and hated drinking water and I had to force this kid to drink water constantly when we were in Iraq. Guess what? After he went on a long re-supply convoy in 120 degree heat, he passed out from Heat exhaustion and to this day I wonder if it was because he was drinking too much of this junk and not enough water. He just shrugged it off as a "no big deal" thing. Later I asked how many of these drinks he had earlier that morning and he confessed that he had drank 3 red bulls. Although he drank some water, I'm sure all of the caffeine and sugar did not help him one bit and I bet it had something to do with why he passed out. I was just happy in the end that his heat injury wasn't something more serious like having a heat stroke.

What does Gathers' tragic death have to do with taking supplements?

If memory serves, he had a congenital heart defect that was not properly diagnosed. Did it come out later he was taking something, too?

Me and my CO used to drink about four of the twist top (32 oz?) Monsters in a day on rotation. Since he was the CO, we were putting in 21 hour days, and we used the Monster to stay awake and motivated. That **** is ****ing cocaine in a can, without question. While the jitters don't last forever but the side effects do. I couldn't fall asleep right for months after our 7-10 day rotations using that ****. I will never drink that **** again. I honestly think cocaine is safer.
