Lynch and Prestwood Official Visit

Lynch and Prestwood Official Visit

Ms. Lynch it's too bad that Aaron and Jordan couldn't visit on a game day. This is truly an amazing experience, I think it would make all the differnce in the world for both of them to see this...together. Utah game will be huge the crowd will be crazy. They need to see what game day is like. It would probably resolve their concerns

To young Mister Prestwood: Have a good life and a good career. When I was coming to Notre Dame, I wasn't positive either, and it was 500 miles away. When I got there, I was surer that it was the place, even though I wasn't at all sure of whether I'd picked the right thing to study. When I graduated, I found out that not only was it the right place, but that I couldn't have missed whatever I'd picked to study. Because it was Notre Dame. We'll miss you, young man; and we'll miss cheering for you in The Golden Helmet. Follow your heart, but come back to us if you can. Prestwood would be a fine name for a lad walking the path in Irishland.

well said...

Thanks Ms. Lynch for the update. It's nice to have real knowledge rather than dumb speculation. It's a long way to February, and we'll see what happens.

Rather disappointing news as I am very high on Prestwood. Fortunately it sounds like we are still very much in it.

Jordan, no hard feelikngs, we wish you well. We hope you'll return to the fold as well. My dad told me not to long before he died that "you make your bed and you lay in it" You have to think life, football and life after football. Good luck.

Go Irish!

By the way NOPE thats not why they offered the other fella, NOTRE DAME didnt have any idea this was going to happen.......... Jordans parents didnt even know.

hahaha your posts are priceless! Thank goodness we have you here to shut some people up.

And I can't imagine what it must be like going through football recruiting... lacrosse was crazy enough and that is like a tier 3 sport.

Best of luck to Jordan wherever he ends up.

Wait, should I don my tin foil hat and come up with a conspiracy about how someone stole him from us! As if he was ever ours. He is his own person, free to do whatever he deems in his best interest. The kid just didn't want to leave his home at this point in his life. It may look like the wrong decision because he is losing the ND degree, but let's be honest; how many of us made absolutely terrible life decisions at 17-18? You can put me at the top of the list, and I had a tremendously supportive family. It's a tough age.

Regardless, I wish him well wherever he ends up. Hope you find what you're looking for young man.

I know why so many of you guys assume that Jordan is gone. In the past that has been the pattern here...kid decommits on Tuesday and on Thursday announces for Florida. But I really think the recruiting vibe is radically different now. I have to believe young Mr. Prestwood's statements: he loves Notre Dame but it is a long way from home and that makes it tough. But with buddies like Aaron etc. coming north, and an official visit coming later in the season (is that after we kick SC's asses?) he could very well come back on board. The big question for me is, will there still be room for him?

I would prefer a kid make it official rather than secretly decommit, this is more honest imo. Like most of you, I believe we should cut these kids some slack, there is a lot going on in a 17 year old kid's life when he suddenly is part of the star making machinery that is college recruiting.

We will be good either way...would love to have him attend ND but wish him nothing but the best regardless.

Man, that's a bummer. I was happy to have him in the Irish Nation. Good luck, hope he comes back. It would be nice to be part of the Irish Rebirth. Lynch, the twins, Tuitt, Justice, DD, Ben, Connor, Heg, etc are going to start something big.

Go Irish!

I wish this kid the best of luck. Not all kids are willing to move so far away from home. I think if he does decide in the end to come to Notre Dame he will be happy later in life that he did. But ND isn't for everyone either and hopefully he finds what he is looking for. Hoping the December visit with Aaron will maybe convince him the Irish is the place to be. I think we reserve a spot for him if he still wants it. Best of luck to him.

I was upset when I read the news this morning in the Tribune. I am not worrried at all, the headline didn't read he decommits and commits to Florida. Like Mrs. Lynch said, he is coming in December with Aaron, so we are still in the mix. Unlike others, like Martin, when he decommited he never made a visit did he?? Plus he was second to commit to this class, so let him look around, and in December hopefully he sees ND being the place he wants to be. Thank you for your posts Mrs. Lynch, as always they are great to read. Can't wait until January for you and Aaron to come to South Bend.

This happens every year, and every year we freak out. These 18 year old kids are trying to make the biggest decisions of their lives, and have way too many people in their ears. I hate it as much as anyone else....probrably more this year than the previous one because this class seemed to have more of a brotherhood type bond going on. I hope that Jordan makes the decision that is going to make him happy for his reasons.

Mrs. Lynch thanks for all you do, you should get an honary degree after all this work. My only message to all these young men is this-as a former professional athlete the value of the education is paramount, we all hope your life after football is splendid and your choices are the best for you. We'd love to have these studs at Notre Dame. Notre Dame will stand behind you either way.

How about someone who would commit on the spot like Pat Flavin or Remound Wright?

I think we had two scholarships left before Prestwood jumped ship. So maybe Lyons, French, and Williams? Or maybe two of those guys and give Ruffer a scholarship?

First of all, this conversation shouldn't be in a recruit's thread, though it makes a lot of sense that it is. Maybe a mod can move it? Second of all, it doesn't matter if we have 50 special teamers on scholarship, Ruffer deserves one.
