I look at this thread and wonder why a bunch of ND fans is obsessed with Michigan football. The conversation about RichRod is kind of like politics, everyone has a passionate opinion, and quotes facts to prove their point, but nothing changes. Good example. Talking about the great WV '07 defense: Look at the compiled wins of the teams they beat, and then to give up 21 right away to a South Florida team that ends up unranked? Rich Rod is a 66% coach, no more, with ethical shortcomings, (what would his percentage be without cutting the corners?) and I am tired about talking Michigan football. If I wanted to do that, I would go to a U of M site, because that is all that exists. (Oh and next to Alabama, they fabricate the most about National Championships.)

So funny because I was just reading something where Alabama claims the 1973 National Championship even though they finished 11-1 and we beat them head to head in the Sugar Bowl to finish 11-0. No wonder they have one of the worst state schools in the country... they have idiots in charge of it.

thing with bama is they literally just claim whatever year they want and their logic for doing so changes with each claim...

there was a nice article I posted on here a few times that broke down how no method for claiming titles has Bama at number one over us if said method is applied across the board year after year...

but...

they don't do that, they change their logic or math to whatever helps them the most year to year

Here is how it works: Back in the day, the National Championship was voted on by the major sports services (starting with the AP). As more got involved, there was some room for controversy. ND claims unanimous or consensus championships. But look at 1948; after an undefeated season, ND was voted the National Championship. But in the bowl game, (considered purely exhibition games at the time), Michigan beat Southern Cal by more points than ND did. So they got the AP writers together, headed by the Detroit paper’s writer and voted Michigan the Championship, the same year, after they voted it to Notre Dame! ‘Bama had a syndicate of southern writers from regional papers that would vote them the championship every time they had a winning record and beat at least one team from the Midwest. That’s how they claim 13.

Notre Dame on that basis could claim more, for example Ara’s inaugural year, they were voted the National Football Foundation National Championship award for 1964! Of course Notre Dame does not include that, but Alabama does claim it that year, even though Arkansas went undefeated, unlike ND and “Bama. Alabama, includes 1964, 1966, as well as 1973 and with one loss over an undefeated Oklahoma team in 1975! Oh, well . . .

The actual team with the most National Championships? Princeton, 27, look it up.

The poll has been the dominant national champion selector since the inception of the AP Poll in 1936. It is notable that the NFF merged with UPI from 1991 to 1992 and USA Today from 1993 to 1994 . . . For many years, the national champion of various polls were selected prior to the bowl games. The national champion was selected before bowl games as follows: AP (1936–1964 and 1966–1967), Coaches' Poll (1950–1973), FWAA (1954), and NFF (1959–1970). In all other latter-day polls, champions were selected after bowl games.

Dude! How is this guy a coach for a D1 program? He so incompetent yet he's 5-0 off some lucky crap. He's like the guy at the blackjack table with 18 and takes a hit with the next card to be a 3..

I watched 1:20 of that video and had to stop. I watched that snap, it wasn't a bad snap, nobody was ready. The center (T-bob) saved the game. It was miserable play calling and miserable execution and he's got to stop making excuses.

Yea thats why I questioned where he got the information that Hart was the best runningback in this class?
Rivals has him as the number one APB but I do not believe that qualifies for best back overall in this class.

Demetrius Hart - Yahoo! Sports

I went by the rivals ranking. You can bag all you want on rivals rankings and how they mean nothing because when the talent steps on the collegiate the field it's not the same, but that's mainly what everyone goes to for these recruiting class rankings.

Say Michigan gets Robinson, Hart with Smith, seniors Odoms and Stonum and a RS junior Roundtree out there on the field on offense... Gonna be scary good.

Going to have to be with your swiss cheese defense.

Greg Robinson will be fired after this season. The 3-3-5 is absolute bull****.

Troy Woolfolk will be back as a senior. If Ha'Sean Clinton-Dix follows Dee to Michigan, we'll be fine along with junior JT Floyd in the secondary.

Senior Mike Martin on Dline, William Campbell should be improved, Craig Roh will dominate. 2011 should be the best year we've seen since 2006. Not saying 11 wins, but I'm expecting 8 as a minimum and 10 as the max.

For what it's worth, losing that safety (Demar Dorsey?) with 4.2 speed absolutely screwed your defense even more than your best CB getting hurt. Having a playmaker with that kind of closing speed at safety would be absolutely huge to limiting big plays.

I blame admissions. Not qualifying academically when in this day and age it's athletes-studuents.

/sarcasm.

If he hadn't had prior history with the law then he plays for Michigan right now. With the NCAA sanctions thanks to the freep, the A-Dept didn't wanna take the chance on the kid.

As I already said, according to rivals he is the number 1 all purpose back in this class. If you go to rivals and look under runningbacks, you will see the 10 best runningbacks in this class. Hart is by no means the best or the most highly sought after back in this class. However, I do agree with you that he would be a great addition for your class if you can beat out Auburn. He would fit your offense nicely.

Woolfolk isn't that great, it helps, but your pass defense will move from 120th to 114th.

Already beat out Auburn, it's between Michigan and Alabama now. He is expected to announce Friday.

Found this:

Touted running back prospect Demetrius Hart might not be picking Michigan after all.

The Orlando Sentinel says the recruit is leaning toward Alabama and might not even wait until his scheduled news conference Friday to announce. Here's a snippet of the Sentinel's story:

Canceling at this point would mean the Crimson Tide have a new commitment to the class of 2011. Of course, there are still 117 days before Feb. 2, National Signing Day and commitments, at this point, are hardly binding for any prospect.

His decision puts Michigan a very close runner-up. He had already eliminated contenders Auburn and Arkansas on Monday. ...

Most people have considered Hart to be a heavy lean to Michigan, but this past weekend's visit, when the Crimson Tide crushed Florida 31-6 on Saturday night, looks to have been enough to put 'Bama on top.

Honestly, if you're a running back (or any skill position player) you have to be turned off on how the whole offense revolves around DR. Maybe when Gardner takes over it will be more balanced but right now there isn't a single offensive skill player who can showcase their skills in that offense.

it's not like they're not getting their chances, it's more they're not using them.

a quote from Hart:

"I feel I can come in and play right now in that offense with Denard, then it will be 'pick your poison,’ ”

it's not like they're not getting their chances, it's more they're not using them.

a quote from Hart:

Yes, obviously someone like Steve Slaton got his opportunities to shine, so I'm not saying he couldn't come in and be very effective. What I'm saying is if you're a WR recruit wouldn't you rather go to an offense that airs it out with a 5 star passer than one where you might get a couple targets in a run first offense? And vice versa, if you're RB wouldn't an offense like Alabama's where Ingram and Richardson have been able to pound people behind a great OL be more attractive than one where you might get 10-15 carries a game?

What I'm saying is, while Hart might give a quote like that, I'm also sure he's salivating seeing what the RBs for 'Bama did against Florida and their other competition. Remember, Ingram is a Michigan man too.

Truthfully, I think as good as DR has played this year, UM would be better off long term with Gardner. That kid is the total package throwing and can run... not nearly as explosive as DR... but he is still quite a runner himself.

Either way all bets are off once Rich Rod gets fired at 8-4 this year and Harbaugh takes over ;).

Found this:

It seems like he is just saying that to create suspense.

This is what Dee posted WR Ricardo Miller's facebook. Keep in mind they played together when Ricardo was at Dr P in Orlando

My brother it's been awhile but from the heart you ready to join me as we take the world.....[ Go ****]

Ricardo isn't transferring if that is what you're thinking. He's a Michigan Man.

At the end of the day I think we will see Hart Attack II next season.

So....

After getting stomped by MSU, does anyone want to consider the Rich Rod vs. Harbaugh argument? Your team has struggled against UMass, Indiana, a bad Notre Dame team without our quarterback and getting completely exposed by the first good team on your schedule; seriously hope people in Ann Arbor stay ignorant to the fact that hiring Harbaugh would have you as a dominant force in the Big Ten for years to come while Rich Rod is never going to get you over the hump.

I pray every day that UM is dumb enough not to hire their own Michigan Man (who has taken an absolutely pathetic Stanford team in three years to the elite of the PAC10 from the laughing stock) before he gets snatched up by the 49ers or any other NFL team that will be looking his way at the end of this season.

He'll go to the NFL before UofM. Than he'll fail at the NFL level and come back to college.

What?

I thought Hart had already committed to Michigan. Huh. It really won't make much of a difference. They still won't have a defense to keep the other team out of the end zone.

Back to the point: Rich Rod does not have a Big Ten worthy defense, talent to go round after feeding his offense or a defensive scheme that will win in the Big Ten. Big Ten teams are figuring out Michigan’s offence, I have begun to admire, and feel empathy for Denard Robinson. The best RichRod can do in his three big rival games is 4 of 9, (will probably be 3 of 9) and Michigan will have a hard time ending the season with a winning record. .333 in rival games and less that .400 in three seasons?
