I'll gladly take him over whatever freshman would be in his place.

this...

I can't wait to put the Harrison Smith/Brian Smith era behind us... but if we had a better option right now they wouldn't be playing...

It's really at the point where all we can hope for is that he doesn't make huge mistakes. It's sad, but it's true.

We desperately need a big playmaker back there, and we don't have it.

If Hardy is physical and smart enough, I could see him pushing for a lot of PT (Is he enrolling early?). Same thing with Lyons (finger crossed on his recruitment!).

INT! He has been solid, nothing to warrant a thread like this. IMHO.

I would take Smith over Motta, he is faster and hits harder. I would move Gray to Safety and let Blanton and walls have the corner. Gray plays bigger than he is. Our safety's would be fine if our DL could ever get some pressure on the QB.

He was alot more memorable for a few good plays this week than a few bad ones. IMO that he'd be one of the 5th years denied a spot if BK is forced to "open" spots for to make room for new players like French, Lyons, Drew or someone out of left field or Hawaii.

I wouldn't be too hard on Harrison Smith myself. I believe that the guy has been jerked around a lot as to his position and responsibilities in different schemes, and every year is like he's a rookie again. Also, I've seen many times with defensive backs how guys who are viciously maligned in their earlier years "get it figured out" in their last ones. Smith could turn out to be not only adequate by the time he graduates, but pretty good. I'll trust Kelly and wait and see.

Harrison Smith is a guy that people look for to make mistakes, he could have a great game but one bad play and everyone ****s on him. Fans literally wait for him to mess up to call him on it.

Funny, no Gary Gray thread for blwoing his coverage on the long TD pass to Swigert

I am probably wrong, but I believe that the blown long pass play was a team effort. We got no pressure on the QB that play, and everyone was psyched out by the play-action. Everyone in the defensive backfield went forward [read: the safeties "bit"] and Gray was left alone on an unfortunately perfectly-timed double-move call. The old man in the BC booth just foxed us on that one. It happens.
