Let me start out by saying, I am not here to flame or troll this board. Yes, I am a Michigan fan, but I have great respect for the Notre Dame football program. Of course I wan't Michigan to beat Notre Dame every year, but at the end of the day Notre Dame is an elite program that I have tons of respect for, which is why I love the rivalry.

The question I have is, can anyone give me a good scouting report on your Irish? I am in Europe right now and was not able to watch the Notre Dame game saturday, and have had tons of problems downloading it. I just want to know what to expect Saturday. Strengths, weaknesses, how they match up with Michigan. Things like that. If anyone is interested, I can give you a break down on what to expect from Michigan:

As everyone is already fully aware Michigan will feature Denard Robinson at quarterback. There is also no secret that Denard is a great runner. What makes him more dangerous this year then last is that he now has a firm grasp on the offense and can go through his progression and make smart decisions. He made a lot of Freshmen mistakes last year, and seems to have improved in that area. Enough about Denard thoug because that is what everyone is talking about.

Michigan will most likely feature 2 talented young backs in Michael Shaw and Vincent Smith. RR like to cycle runners to keep them fresh so you should see a lot of both. Denard Robinson got 29 carries last week so I would expect to see a lot more of the running backs this week especially on read options. Shaw and Smith are both shifty and Smith is also known for being a good pass catcher out of the backfield.

The recieving corps is pretty deep but nobody really sticks out. Michigan may be missing their best option in the slot(Roundtree) this week which will be a big plus for ND. On the outside the main threat you will have to worry about is Daryl Stonum.

The O-Line is the biggest strength of our offense. A lot of returning starters and depth their that really performed well last week. I watched the game again and noticed that Rich Rodriguez seemed to favor running it behind the left side of the line, a lot of times plays that were run to the right did not go far so that might be something to watch this week.

On defense Michigans strength is the defensive line the features a bunch of returning starters even without Brandon Graham. Mike Martin, Ryan Van Bergen and Greg Roh are the strength of this unit. The DB's and Linebackers are less than exciting if your a Michigan fan. The Linebackers have a lot of veteran players but most have underachieved. They played decent last week, so we will see if that continues. The defensive backfield is pretty bad. A lot of talent but mostly inexperienced players back there. I know Notre Dame has a lot at the skill positions and that is an area of weakness they should look to exploit.

I think you could expect to see a lot of different blitz packages from Michigan Saturday. They are going to try and get a lot of pressure on your young QB and force mistakes to protect the young secondary. If Notre Dame can protect the QB it could be a very high scoring game.

Dayne Crist was pretty solid on saturday. He was inaccurate at times, but he did a pretty nice job with everything considered. He didn't really force anything and didn't turn the ball over which was nice. He had a nice TD throw to TJ Jones. There were really no throws downfield everything was short and simple.

The running game looked pretty nice. Both Armando Allen and Cierre Wood got carries. Allen was his typical self pretty solid although he had a nice 22 yard TD run. Cierre Wood looked explosive. He had 3 runs for 10+ yards, but didn't see time in the 2nd half. He fumbled a kickoff so thats why I thought he got pulled, but Kelly said it was because he was tired.

Our starting recievers were pretty solid. Theo Riddick struggled a bit, but i'll reserve judgement on him since it was his first start at WR. TJ Jones got the start in his 1st career game and he looked liked the real deal. Had a TD catch for a TD. He's gonna be food. Floyd didn't really see many throws. One catch he made he was on his way in the endzone for the TD, but fumbled. The thing that I was most impressed with Floyd was his blocking. He helped setup some big runs and made a nice block on Allen's TD run At the end of the day it's Mike Floyd and he's just really damn good. Rudolph had a few catches all shorter and a couple picked up first downs. He looked like a beast though.

The interior offensive line looked pretty good. I was especially impressed with Braxton Cave. For his 1st start at center he did a very nice job. I'm more worried about the tackle spot, but they seemed to get more comfortable as the game went on. We did give up a safety on a stretch play from our 6 yard line. A missed assigment on the left side of the line gave Allen no chance to get out of the endzone.

Our defense was pretty surprising. They did a nice job and only allowed one big play which was a run by Marve off of an option read on a 4th and 1. Instead of containing Brian Smith collapsed and Marve took it to the house.

The D-line was pretty good. At times they were able to get pressure and other times they were ineffective, but an improvement over last year. Especially in the 4th.

LB's were probably our worse group on defense. I alreadly mentioned that mistake by Brian Smith on the TD run. Manti missed quite a few tackles, but lucky there was someone in position to clean up the mess. Carlo Calabrese was pretty impressive. I liked what I saw from him. I cant really remember OLB's much. It's been a few days.

Safety's were pretty solid. Harrison Smith still worries me, but he had a nice game on Saturday. He looked better then last year. Jamoris Slaughter hurt an ankle and Zeke Motta came in and played a pretty good game.

Finally the corners. I hope I don't jynx it, but the corners were the best unit on defense and probably on the entire team. Both Gary Gray and Darrin Walls played very good games. They tackled well and were good in coverage. It was very impressive considering how maligned they had been.

And as a team the conditioning was night and day from last year to this. This is a game where if it was last year we probably would have lost it.

Hope that helps a bit. It's been a few days so I probably didn't do a great job remembering a lot.

Let's see...hmmm...a good scouting report on Notre Dame for a Michigan fan...First of all, we're terrible. No need to worry about us at all. We barely showed up against Purdue and some of the guys didn't even want to take the field. The only reason we won was because someone put too much curry into the Purdue Pre-game meal. Also, no need to even defend Floyd, Rudolph, Allen, or Wood. What a bunch of over-rated stumble-bums. And TJ Jones! Wow, just a freshman! Shows you how desperate we are. Our O-line sometimes looked like they were rushing our own passer--might as well take some of your better players and give them a rest this game; I mean look at the rest of your schedule--you'll need this break. We do have a good punter and he gets a lot of work. Hope this has been helpful.

Dude, at least he didn't come in here "guns a blazin'" and talking trash. He was appropriate. I welcome the man and hope we kick the crap out of his team. :)

This looks about right, and I was at the Purdue game. Give Forcier some reps at RB.

i like turtles...

I feel like thats my emotions. I jut don't give a sh*t about how one team did or the other. Dayne needs to really step up and hit some passes he missed and we need some 20-30 yard runs a time or two. Manti and the rest of the LB'S need to wrap and drive instead of miss. Denard is no joke. the man can move. Besides him I think its bagged... but he can change the whole game. I ill be back from Mexico @ 1030pm CST friday and waking up to a grill and speed dial to my DM who is die hard scUM fan. I will not end my week of wedding and honeymoon to a loss to scUM!!!

Serious... on my snorkel today we went over a statue that the Spanish were moving to Cozumel in the 1700's. The ship hit low tide into rock and dropped all cargo to stay afloat. A statue the had was a thank you gift for the MAYANS of Mother Theresa. I was told by my instructor if I swam down and touched i I would be blessed on my wish at hand. Immediately I swam down 30 ft and hugged it. So did my WIFE!!! It was hard to hit 15ft but once he said that we just got done talking scUM game. It was like GOD said something. All I can say and hope is...

GO IRISH!!!!!

Thanks for that...I assume you wished for a win...and nothing so shallow as eternal wedded bliss...because the wedded bliss thing can't be granted...it goes against a force too strong...the woman's desire to change you...but a win for the Irish...indeed it can be granted.
