We might get BLOWN out by Michigan

What we saw against Purdue was just a warm up in my opinion. BK is not going to show everything he has in the first game. I think that we will see a different offense against Michigan. The only thing that concerns me is Robinson, but with our 1-2 punch of Te'o and Calabrese in the middle and a quicker Ethan Johnson we can contain Robinson. I see a close game this Saturday.
BGIF- thanks for the update w/ Shembo, I wondered what happened to him.

What I found interesting is that Robinson ran a ton of plays through the middle.

I'm sure they will try and exploit ND on the edge, but UM wasn't really doing that against UConn. They were doing some read option plays but Robinson was taking off in between the tackles or just taking the snap and running through the middle.

UM has a pretty good O-line, but I think if Robinson keeps running up the middle it plays in our favor.

On a side note, Michigan set a new attendance record of 113,000 at the Big House on Saturday. In other news, the Guinness Book of World Records declared this the largest gathering of dumbasses in the world. lol nice

Stack the box and make Robinson beat you with his arm. Bring some pressure and get him rattled..

It is impossible to be blown out if you put up 42. We really, really can put up 400 yards through the air, especially if Michigan has lost another DB.

I think it's more like "The sky is falling"

Great picture eNDzone as I know Mike personaly. He is a great man. My two cents on Mich is this yes they looked great but I take Kelly over their coach and the fact that this team lost nobody to injury and they should improve after one game. I cant see them beating Notre Dame at South Bend.

Way late to this party, as I'm just returning from the wilderness...

All I can say is that the comparison hurts my head.

1) last year we were a pro-style offense...Jimmy did ok in creating, but he was a pocket guy (when there was one). So Michigan's QB is quite a different flavor...comparing what our last years O did to what Michigan's O did this year is just too hard, even if all the players on Uconn's D were exactly the same...

2) This years ND D is not remotely the same. Different coaching, different scheme, more disciplined (so far).

3) Uconn had some injuries on D against Michigan...

so yes on its face the comparison of us losing last year, and Michigan owning Uconn this year might make folks uneasy...but please consider the fact that the only thing the same is Uconn's Mascot (Maybe)...

I'm with the guys that say relax...not saying its in the bag, but not willing to say skunkbear is going to wax us based on our result last year and their result this year against Uconn.

He's going to get his yards on the ground and our OLB's need to not overpursue (see Brian Smith).

True, but also remember the back-breaking Forcier touchdown run last year: it wasn't a containment issue, it was a tackling-in-space issue, something B. Smith has simply yet to solve.

Note the head of this thread says we "might" get blown out. I think it is a legitimate statement. A very mobile QB versus an unproven defense is a recipe for Michigan to put up some points. A couple of big plays on special teams or turnovers and Michigan could run away with it.

While I don't think this will happen, I have to stay open to the possibility that it MIGHT. Any given Saturday, right.

I would say we have a better chance of a blowout win than a blowout loss. If we strike fast and take away Michigan's run game they have a much lower probability of coming back than we do from an early deficit. Not only because their offense will not be reliable in an air only attack but I think a more deperate defense will open up big play potential from our offense stacked with game breakers.

I could not care less about two new systems... I could not care less about a rebuilding defense... I couldn't care if Robinson becomes the best player in the country and wins the Heisman while leading Michigan to a National Title...

with the talent gap between these two teams from top to bottom and in the two deep... if we get BLOWN OUT (not beaten, but blown out) at home by this team... then I lose all perspective and start questioning everything from Kelly to ND itself... guys with that offense they can play with anyone on a good day... talent wise we CRUSH this team. A potential blow out loss should not be an option.

This. You are my brother from another mother. Although I am adopted and know nothing about my biological mother. So perhaps we are brothers from the same mother.

I think the game will be competitive, but I do think we'll get the win. It may only be by a field goal or touchdown, but honestly, I just think the team has a better grasp on what it's jobs are than Michigan. I think the transition for the Wolverines has been just too difficult, sloppy and under coached. That having been said, UM will come into the game ready to play...they aren't going to assume ND is a punk. Should make for a hard fought classic.

Can you say triplets? I was adopted too, not sure but I may have been hatched.

Michigan will, (have to use something like triplets), just to get over the ND man advantage where RR wants to run the ball.

Also, said this from the begining: RR canabalizes defensive tallent to feed his offense. Now he has Denard. I'm sure he thinks he is the second coming, (of Pat White), but really. Look at his entire defense. Forget about Dayne passing, ND will run them into the ground and off of the field!

From the gamday thread:

Wolverines secondary takes another hit
Wed Sep 08,2010 2:23 PM ET By Keith Arnold

News is breaking today that Michigan sophomore safety Vladimir Emilien has decided to leave the Wolverines football program. That makes another departure from a secondary that's already been plundered by injury and attrition.

"Vlady has decided to transfer and look for other opportunities," Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez said today. "He's a good man and we wish him well.". . .

(You know the situation is dire when Greg Robinson's playing a 3-3-5 defense, and the Michigan Rivals' website has a secondary depth chart that only has four active players on it.)

NBC Sports - College Football - Inside the Irish

Things that want to make you say HMMM . . .

Second most important quote: “My other perspective would be: get up on them, score a lot of points,” Kelly said following Wednesday’s practice. “There’s some option principles in there as well in terms of, option teams don’t like to fall behind. If they do and they get off schedule, they have to do some things they don’t want to do." Brian Kelly.

You know what's sad?

If you Google "Notre Dame Blown Out" this is the first thing that comes up.

Sad... You see what happens? ;)
