I was wondering, the darth vader song played before the fourth quarter at the games when all the fans did the l for lou and the w for weis and willingham, ( not sure for davie) what will our fans do, at the spring game some fans were trying to do a k for kelly but it just looked like evryone had arthritis.

They actually do the 1812 overture. It's so funny you mention this because in the shower this morning I was musing over the exact same thing for about 10 minutes before I decided they must be going with a lower case "b" by making a circle with the index finger and thumb and putting all other fingers out straight.

I spent 9.5 of those 10 minutes trying to make a suitable "K" or "k" with my hands before coming to that conclusion :)

Please take a picture of how you do it with your hand and post it. I am still completely lost on how you make a k with your hand.

the only way i can think of making a "k" is by putting your pointer finger straight up, your middle finger half way up and your ring finger pointed down.

not sure if thats a good visual

I would do it with two hands. One hand straight up and down I and the other in front like >. I just tried the > in the back and front, and I think the front looks better.

Nah, kinda looks like the DX "Suck IT" gesture.

Let's just kill the 1812. And the arthritis thing made me spittake. LMFAO.

How's about "P" for "PUT" the friggin' game away for once. I'm sick of close encounters and overtime.

That does remind me. The Imperial March should be put away as well. That should have been buried long ago.

For Bob Davie the students did a "b" with their left hand and "d" with their right. My wife and I were at his first game, against GT, and her niece who was a student there then showed us before the game how the letters were formed. I believe she said the Observer ran an instructional article with diagrams.

It's pretty simple. First you unfold your hand as if you're high-fiving someone. Then bring your ring and pinky inward toward the palm so that the other three fingers are up. It's not exactly a straight 'k' but the the middle finger acts as the vertical line in the letter.
I think I saw it on one of the ISD videos back in the winter when Kelly was introduced during the UCLA-ND basketball game.

Exactly, watch the video when BK got introduced at the UCLA ND bball game. One hand with your thumb, index and middle finger out.

I couldn't figure out how to post a picture so I put it as my avatar.

This came from the facebook page of last year's leprechaun.

Hope it helps

I think we should sport the middle finger... not classy at all, but it sends and important message to the rest of college football. Not the mean one where the thumb is all the way extended, I am thinking something nice...with the thumb tucked... I mean there are families present.

Here's what a 'K' looks like in sign language (not my hand):
