the three starting WR's are a scary group already, Floyd, Riddick, Jones, i would hate to be the Defense trying to prepare for them, oh and i can't forget Rudolph

What happened to Filer that dropped him from a starting role to 3rd string? Also, despite the moves and speed, does Shaq have suspect hands?

It suprises me not to see Filer in the 2 deep. Its not necessarily a bad suprise because its great to see Spond and Shembo in there. I am very excited about our young defense. Kendall Moore is one guy I'd really like to see jump in like Shembo and start to build a great LB core.
As far as WR's go, I love the fact that TJ beat out Kamara. No disrespect at all to Kamara because I still think he'll play a key role, but this move gives TJ a ton of confidence and better prepares us for life without Kamara next year. I thought that Shaq would come on and beat out Toma for the backup role in the slot but obv that didnt happen.
QB status is also a good thing in my mind. Rees' upside is very promising and I think the right thing to do is to put the true freshman in a position where he can get some real reps.
I think Collinsworth is a player Im really excited about on special teams.
Theo and Cierre returning KO's?!? Going to be holding my breath everytime theres a KO. Thats possibly the most exciting part of this whole thing.
I really like the depth on both sides of the ball and with the class thats coming in so far, it only looks to get better.

I agree Shembo and Spond surprise me also...What's the deal with Filer and Posluszny? Also we knew this was coming, but Ragone needs to step up his game to pass Eifert.

...what the hell happened...you blink around here and shtuff changes.

I had a coach do something similar...he came in and replaced alot of veterans with rookies...not because they were better, but because he wanted to intensify the competition. Worked for him. Not sure we want Fall camp kinds of games extending into the season, but you do what you gotta I guess....or maybe this is just legit, and how it is going to be.
BK makes the money so I guess this is all good.

I like Shaq. I am not sure what is going on, but the kid has talent. Not sure what CW saw that had him drop, and I don't know what BK is seeing. I wish we could reach him and help him unravel whatever it is that is impacting him, and evidently his play...I know he is homesick...but that happens when you are having a tough go away from home....I think being homesick is indicative of other things having gone bad. Anyway, best of luck to him if he leaves...

what's the soonest Rees see's playing time?

Like last year Crist came in, in the Nevada game in the second half i believe, just for a play or so. Does Rees get thrown in there like that just to see how he responds to a real game atmosphere? Or is held back until he is absolutely needed, like some sort of injury to Crist, lets pray that doesn't happen though.

I personally wouldn't mind putting him in here and there, if ND ever gets up by 2-3 TD's.

Hopefully this Saturday around 5-5:30PM would be awesome.

Also I am surprised to see Filer drop so far. Hopefully he kicks it in, I think he has the potential to be game changing. Seems to be the focus aspect of things.

I'm excited to see what Carlo Calabrese can do...especially working along side Manti

me too...I watched some of his '08 youtube stuff last night...hard to judge based on HS film, but no question, the kid is an athelete, he likes to hit...he seems to be playing down hill...ie you notice way more often than not he is in position to deliver a blow vs. grabbing on and riding folks down (catching) ...all good signs

I think he'll be surprisingly effective because other teams don't know what to expect...no film on him at this level to speak of, and everybody will be worried about getting Manti blocked...

I actually think he will be among the leaders in tackles on Saturday, and I bet he gets a couple for loss.

I'm still surprised how Brian Smith has fallen. I can remember watching him against UM two years ago and thinking he would be a star.

Can Spond be a ILB?

Depth chart is oddly comforting: Spond can be whatever he wants.

Watching his game films, he may be undeveloped, but he is a beast. One of the few high school QB's where I saw people get out of the way. As safety, he could come up into the box and just drill people. Most importantly, he can deliver a blow, and keep players away with his hands, an advanced skill for a high school player to have developed. I think someone in the program was quoted as saying he could play multiple positions. There are several people in the freshman class like that. (Derek Roeback.)

Oh, and by the way Shembo is an absolute freak. He is way ahead of the curve. The main reason we don't know how good he is, is that he has never been tested. Also, please note his nasty attitude, it really comes through on film, as I am sure it will for our opponents this fall.

Kendall Moore is one of those good recruits with all the potential, who could use a little more time with Longo. One of the articles recently said it best. The average male doesn't reach his peak until his mid-twenties. At seventeen or eighteen, most could use a little more time.

Best Bert EVER!!!!
I am so excited about this game!!!!

I imagine BK knows what he's doing with the depth chart.

Too bad about Shaq, I thought the was going to be a good one, but if Robby Toma passes you up on the depth chart, it's time to concentrate on your studies and not football so much. Just my 2 cents.

maybe Robby Toma is a little fkn stud? i personally think Shaq should stick around and compete and continue to get a free education from one of the greatest places in the world. one never knows when their opportunity will arise.

I think Toma is a very solid receiver. Also Shaq should finish out the year, an injury or hard work gets him a shot and that is all he needs right now.

Shembo, the more I think about his interview and his size, I think he can be a huge surprise this year.
