Oh god no!! Those bright yellow pants will hurt my eyes trying to watch TV.. Take notice the numbers are on the side of the jersey in the Ara year.

I don't think the pants worn in the early Ara years were yellow. It seems like as the years wore on, the pants kept getting more yellow and more yellow.

Up until Montana's first year or two, the pants seemed more gold than yellow. Then when the green jerseys came out, the pants became practically pure yellow.

And then for the 70's throwbacks worn during the 2007 season, the yellow seemed to be even brighter...even being more bright than USC's pants.

I don't want any of that yellow. I'm talking more of an "old gold" that the team basically wore during the 50's and 60's.

A good example of the old gold color is the pants Georgia Tech switched to last year or the year before.

I know in todays world it wouldnt be good with the young guys but can you beat the look of '64 (Huarte picture) that uni is timeless and almost regal. Its so plain its classy. Its like saying the tradition and players are the deal here not the pizazz of the neuvoriche and crazy unis of the modern college era. The only thing I would ever changed is putting the leprechaun or shamrock on the base of the collar.

The Willingham jersey with the green shamrock at the V-neck had the ND logo on the sleeves. The TV numbers were worn exclusively by Weis the last five years.

But yeah that jersey was awesome. The striped collars and sleeves were okay in the past, but I thought the solid gold stripes looked dumb and take away from the glorious helmets.

Anyone remember the green shamrock with a gold ND in the middle worn on the sleeves of the white jerseys for the 2001 Fiesta Bowl?

the willingham jersey is my favorite by far. but i do like the interlocking ND logo on these new ones. anyway, i'm just excited the season is getting a day closer.

I think that would look pretty goofy.

If we're going to wear green, I'd prefer just a green jersey with white numbers...no gold or blue outline. A logo of some sort at the collar would be okay, as would the ND logo on the sleeves, but plain white numbers are key!

Just picture that jersey with the ND on the sleeves and maybe the leprechaun at the base of the collar. It would be ridiculously awesome.

As for away games, just invert it with white jerseys and plain green numbers. Basically, it'd be like what the Celtics wear.

Yah it would take a lot to pull of the green pants look, but as for that pic, i think we should just go with that! or with what the celts wear.

LOL!! A lot of washing did that to them. If you notice in the USC picture, does the color look similar to to the Trojans.

I really don't mean this, but someone has to say it,

"Whenever you Nancys are done talking about cute uniforms and quasi-homoerotic football fashion, can we get back to talking football?"

Those white ones will basically be what we're wearing this year.

I thought it was neat we wore those green away uniforms against Florida, but I can't say I really like them.

Green and Blue together like that?

Doesn't look like a Notre Dame jersey. Everytime I see I think of the Hartford Whalers.

Bonus points for wearing green socks that day, though.

2002 right? Willingham's first year.

The green is kind of bright but it's pretty close to Kelly green. And the uniforms look so much better with white numbers. I rather like them.

They're better than the Weis-era greens we've been wearing. They don't even look like a Notre Dame jersey.

I hope Kelly never wears them.

Agreed, the newest version is way too dark. More of a forest green, than a "Kelly" green. I have only one green, and it is the "Ty" era version. Like you said I like the color, and the contrast between the jersey, and the numbers.

The Weis-era green jerseys were great. Very classy and awesome, they just looked timeless.

The Willingham green jerseys I loved at the time, but now I'm not sold. Although I don't hate them by any means.

The other Weis green jerseys commemorating the national champions were sweet, for commemorating something. But I wouldn't like them wearing these often. Once a decade would be sweet though.

My #3 Will be Here On Friday

My #3 Will be Here On Friday

I ordered my #3 Jersey from Champsports.com for only $44! I had to go pick it up at a local Champs Sports store but, instead of paying close to $70, I think I made out quite well.

Go Irish!!

I still say the more jersey options the better these days... the kids who can play are just that, kids... and every poll done shows they love the funky different unis and not caught up on some dated old fart notion of tradition...

Gold J's should be a yearly thing... Green J's should too... many different away alternates... Mix it up... it is a selling point, just ask Oregon... and accept it or not, Notre Dame has fallen behind during the last 15 years, any little thing that helps is lessen the gap is a good thing.

Do you really think some prized recruit will sign with ND over PSU because the Irish have 18 different uniform combinations? I'm all for pushing the limit on some of the ND's traditions, but various uniforms in the same vein as Oregon would be disgusting.

Just from a standpoint of tradition I would be against it, sort of like the Yankees wearing different blue jerseys or a red one. Especially when we're talking about a gold jersey.

schiccatano-042603-lg.jpg

That's just a heinous jersey and uniform combination. Gold from head to toe would be fine if this was the Irish softball team, but this looks horrible.

Plus, do we really want to follow in this school's footsteps?

harris_i.jpg

I mean, there's not much to say about that is there? I'd be pissed if ND ever wore a black jersey like Tennessee and Georgia have, but I'd welcome that long before I'd ever want to see ND wear a gold jersey.

One of the cool things about ND's uniforms is that they are tweaked every once in a while, but have stayed within a traditional framework. I think we should stick to making little changes like we have over the past 20 years and not breaking out white, blue and green pants with four or five jerseys.

who said they have to wear gold pants?????

and yes, uni options is one of many factors... recent polling of cfb players nation wide indcated that clearly... my point is, why purposely play against the 8 ball when we are already playing catch up in so many other aspects...

I would absolutely never, ever, want to see a gold jersey with our unis. Some different pant combos would be acceptable with the green, blue, and away jerseys. The helmet is never allowed to change though. Green pants with green numbers on the away jerseys would be cool.

I would be cool with jsut about whatever... it just seems like such an easy way to help connect to a generation that has never seen ND win a title... the helmets??? I'm with you there I suppose

The ESPN poll just showed that the players like Oregon's uniforms the best, not that they are weighing uniform designs heavily in the recruiting process and choosing schools based on those neat yellow helmets and gray jerseys the Ducks wear.

My point is we may be behind the 8 ball in certain areas, but bringing in extra uniform combinations and ruining our classic look won't gain us any edge on the field.

Florida State has been wearing a bunch of different uniform combinations over the past five+ years....why haven't they seen an up spike in recruiting and wins?
