I would absolutely never, ever, want to see a gold jersey with our unis. Some different pant combos would be acceptable with the green, blue, and away jerseys. The helmet is never allowed to change though. Green pants with green numbers on the away jerseys would be cool.

I think we could pull off white pants with our white uniforms...it would look pretty good. Blue and green would be a lot trickier.

I agree in part, my point is FSU and others have built in advantages that we don't and we still hold ourselves back in other areas needlessly... and I competely believe one of DOZENS of effective pitches you can drop is the uniform... in fact I know that... (one could easily take that from the ESPN poll) we already have the great tradtional ones... why not add to that?? It's cuting off our nose to spite our face imo to push back on new alternates... my point was also it would not hurt ANYTHING... and could just be the differnece in a difference maker signing up... better believe it.

Ok, call me crazy, but i saw this in a dream. You know how the basketball team occasionally wears black and green? OK green jerseys, black pants, it wouldn't work with the gold helmet (purists stop reading) from here we get a black helmet with a green shamrock. I would like to see a little black, maybe with pants or other.

If we wore those I would listen to the game on the radio (traditionalist).

We aren't Penn State: Penn State Nittany Lions History - College Football (look where it talks about school colors).

How about an away jersey with green numbers, green pants, and a shamrock on the jersey collar?

how about all white with gold helmets and numbers on the road and all blue with gold helmets and white numbers at home???... ust try to picture the straight up kick ass awesomeness

I don't know I feel like you're thinking is a little backwards.

Wouldn't bringing in all these alternate uniforms be cutting off our nose to spite our face?

You said wearing various alternates wouldn't hurt anything, but it would hurt (some would use harsher language and say ruin) our beautiful and traditional uniforms.

Could you imagine yourself walking into Kelly's offense and seriously convincing him that gold jerseys and all these Oregon-type uniform changes would help the program?

I'm not saying I don't think Oregon has cool uniforms or that their style doesn't work for them, but it's not Notre Dame's thing. It's not really surprising that the players today think they are cool either, but it's more of a fad than anything. We just might as soon see a ressurgence of "traditional" uniforms and Oregon going back to a two-piece uniform set with Donald Duck on their damn helmets.

I like the idea of your away jersey. Throw in gold cleats, and a blue outline on the gold numbers.

They should wear Navy Blue leotards, Gold tu-tu's and Green helmets with sparkled sequins. That'll show the football universe we mean business.

As a rule, I think football teams should not be allowed to wear the same colored jerseys and pants...unless it's white.

I think the Irish could pull off the all-white on the road like Texas and Penn State. No stripes on the pants though...just white.

I really think an all-blue uniform would not look good.

With Notre Dame's kick ass gold helmets, we wouldn't look as bad as those two teams, but god that is so ugly. The same color jerseys, pants (and sometimes helmets) creates what I like to call the ballet dancer effect. It should be outlawed.

new alternates would not impact the current, classic unis at all... no???... they'd still be the regs... anyway, as far a Oregons and such I have said within this thread that I hate all these new multi uni looks... but it has proven to be a positive trend for those who have gone there... I still say ND puts themself at disadvantages (rightfully) in far more important aspects to stand firm on older unis while the rest of cfb scores points with the younger generations... it's really not that big a deal and would help even if it's just small percentages

if you don't see that then agree to disagree

Yeah we'll have to agree to disagree.

Personally, I think Phil Knights millions upon millions of dollars that he's pumped into Oregon has helped that program more than anything. Beyond the Ducks there really aren't any other programs who have adopted this crazy uniform combination craze and seen some sort of revitalization, has there?

Maybe if we paint our field green....we'll have the same type of success that Boise St. has had. Wait, What??? The field's already green? EOM

I know Oregon's famous for it's wacky uniform combinations, and while I think it's a cool idea, I've never seen an Oregon jersey that I liked the looks of. These ones were especially bad.

Yeah that's the thing about Oregon's uniforms. None of their jerseys are really THAT cool by themselves.

It's more the idea that the players get to wear all the different combinations and wear something different every game that is what makes it worth all the hype. It's definitely a case of quantity over quality in my opinion.

Put Oregon's best jersey combination against the rest of the country and I wouldn't even put them in the top 30.

I agree on Oregon's unis... but it ain't just them... we are in a ever smaller minority of schools that have not had some kind of wacky Pro Combat or twisted color uni over the past five-ten years... the only thing close were the gold stripe down the side of the white aways a few years back (which I didn't like but that has not been my piont away)...

anyway, there it is

Well the green jerseys have to count for a whole lot in this discussion.

And USC, Alabama, Michigan, Penn State, Wisconsin, Iowa and plenty of others have not strayed off the traditional line.

Plus, the Pro Combat stuff will die out in a couple years. All of it is pretty awful anyway.

I once had a nightmare that Notre Dame got Pro-Combat uniforms. I had to assure myself it was all a dream when I woke up.

I'm not a fan of this trend of having the logo on the back of the jersey but whatever. It's not really that drastic of a change. The green ones worn against USC in '05 and Army in '06 will always be my favorite though.

Michigan has those funking lines on the jersey that everyone said would die out when the U starting wearing them about ten years back... just saying... really this is just a "I don't like it" thing on your part, which is fine... I don't like the look for the most part either... but the positives outweigh the nearly complete lack of negatives at this point...

The ESPN poll just showed that the players like Oregon's uniforms the best, not that they are weighing uniform designs heavily in the recruiting process and choosing schools based on those neat yellow helmets and gray jerseys the Ducks wear.

I guess this is why Shaq Evans is rumored to be transferring to the Ducks?

It looks like we will have a new green uniform. The numbers, and color scheme look the same, but it has the new collar, and "ND" on the sleeves instead of TV numbers. I'm mixed on it, although I will probably buy it. I'm a sucker like that...
