Hate the idea of Playoffs in CFB but the 10th is really late
This man is very intelligent...
Things that make cfb great/special that a playoff would kill
1.) the rivalry... cfb has BY FAR the most intense rivalry games... who the fuck cares who wins tOSU/Michigan when both would make a playoff in most years.., same goes for UT/OU and USC/ND and so on...
2.) Meaningful and truely intense reg. season... see above, same logic
3.) The Bowls... not the toilet or lu bonnet bowl... I'm with you on that, cut half the bowls out... but anyone who says they don't care about the Rose, Orange, Sugar and Cotton Bowls can't be that big of a cfb fan... and sorry, both systems can NOT co exist... so that would kill the Rose Bowl andso on
4.) The fans tend to be alums and or students which means you have a TRUE, REAL tie to that school... this one would NOT be affected...
5.) The discussion the polls generate... love it or hate it... it definately is part of the appeal, no matter which side of the arguement you're on.
but let's not forget that expeanded playoffs in CBB, NHL, MLB, NBA and NFL all allow for the possiblity of a team that didn't even come close to winning their own division being crowned champ of the entire sport.... how does that make sense?? Playoffs do not make true Champions... they decide who was hottest during that one month of the playoff after diminishing the importance the reg. season... (I understand the flaws with the BCS also, BELIEVE ME... it needs a LOT of tweaking, but so does a playoff system) why blow up the whole system and destroy at least four of the five things that make this sport great for a system that is just as flawed imo... just my two cents.
