Since recruiting is tight and obviously will slow down, why not take a look back at recruiting through the years?

This question is probably more for the die-hards but who is the one recruit ND missed on that you thought we had to get that ended up not doing much in college?

For me it was Chris Donald

5 Star recruit and the #1 MLB acording to Rivals in 2007
Was down to Tennessee and Notre Dame only to commit to the Vols.
Last i checked he tranferred and is playing for a FCS team

Terelle Pryor, not doing much so far. We'll see this year but definitely one of the crappiest passers I have seen. He makes Tyrod Taylor look like Tom Brady

Lorenzo Booker, out of our neck of the woods, who decided on NSD to spurn the Irish and got to FSU.

Now, he had an OK college career; I wouldn't say he sucked or anything...but he was supposed to be all-world and we all thought he was going to completely light it up in college. Instead his best year was his first year, and he kinda was just a 'meh' player afterward.

We didn't miss on Terrell Pryor...he was never coming. CW offered him as a WR, which was never going to happen in Pryor's mind. He never gave ND a real thought. Jason is thinking about guys who ND had a legit shot at. This year's best example would be Bubba Starling (that is, if his college career doesn't pan out).

In that case I going to have to go with Justin Trattou. Has not done much in his college career.

Trattou's time to shine will be this year, he is a featured player now... he is going to have to make his splash this season

Booker was the first person that came to mind also.

Or Myron Rolle very similar career to Booker. You know he was a road scholar, but on the football field he was a decent safety. He never lived up to his 5 star top overall player in the nation status.

How about Chris Little? He is no longer with Georgia and is having academic troubles with his new school.

Chris Donald for sure. He was a missle and a beast in high school, but he really sucked at Tennessee. I'd always be looking for him at the UT games and then I finally looked up their depth chart and he was way down the list. Sad story for a 5 star recruit.

Omar Hunter, as much as he is a joke around here, i think he could add much needed depth to that position. but hey one of the many deserters

Booker was drafted to the NFL in the third round. I believe he was recently released off waivers this past season though.

"The 40 Year Mistake" is notorious for the "wide right" kicks and secretly recording sex with a coed but he set a bunch of FSU kicking records. He was the "goat" when the Noles came up short a couple of times but he was far from a bust as a kicker.

He had one good year then fizzled out. You could also say some of the kids Charlie recruited that went to other schools. The ones that got in trouble the last couple years. Darren Myles just plain screwed himself.

I disagree.

Benn was highly rated and did not pan out as anticipated, but you have to remember where the hell he played. Illinois sucks balls. Ron Zook is the worst developer of talent in the history of the world, even worse than Charlie, who at least managed to develop his quarterbacks and his wide receivers into great talents. Benn went in there and found himself neck deep in a pile of shit, coming to the realization that he'd murdered his draft status three years in advance.

Juice Williams was one of the worst quarterbacks in the country. That didn't help, either.

Remember Mitch Mustain? We were his favorite school and we never offered him a scholarship. I'm going with him.

I wouldnt consider Benn a bust and Trattou/ Hunter still have time.

Considering Byron Moore is at JC now he could be a bust and definitely Bitch Mustain

Moore transferred on his own accord, but he was tearing it up in the spring, and was in line to battle for a starting position. Unlike some of their other transfers, they were NOT happy to see Moore go at all.

To add to what you said Benn was the third receiver picked in the draft this past year and yes he was picked ahead of Tate.

Hate to say it but James Aldridge never lived up to the hype coming out of high school, not to say a devastating knee injury and inept coaching staff may have had something to do with it.

You guys aren't answering the same question as the rest of us. Here is the original question:

Joseph Barksdale and Will Blackwell! They both were highly needed defensive tackles and they both ended up going to LSU and got moved to the O-Line.

I would say the combo of Ben Martin/Chris Donald going to Tennessee hurt at the time, and we all know Donald is a big time bust, and Martin hasn't been the player I thought he would be, he might still become a good player.

Benn should/would have been all everything, if he went anywhere else. Was he a bust? Not completely. Did we miss on him? Yes. Was he a Chris Little type bust? No. He really did not do squat(regardless of where he went). But, he was talented enough to be the third WR taken in the draft. Once again I think this validates my pick. IMHO.

really? the 5th stringer at USC... my pick would have to be Jelani Jenkins. Had a couple that hurt losing, Omar, Trattou, Greg Little, Benn.... omar pry the worst out of that crowd d/t position needs, but im telling you Jenkins is going to be an all american when all is said and done.

OL Mike Adams and Ryan Miller come to mind as those who were so close but so far away.
