Per ISD:
Reports from the Chicago Tribune and the South Bend Tribune say that Irish senior tight end Mike Ragone was hospitalized after Wednesday’s practice.
According to the reports, Ragone was taken to a local hospital to be treated for ‘heat illness.’ The 6-foot-4, 245-pound Ragone was kept overnight for observation, but has since returned to campus. Ragone, who is fighting for the backup tight end job behind Kyle Rudolph, did not participate in Thursday’s practice is expected to be held out until trainers and doctors deem him recovered.
Rudolph has missed time early in training camp with a sore hamstring, although it is not considered serious. Senior Bobby Burger was running with the first team on Wednesday with sophomore Tyler Eifert getting second-team reps.
