And up to 78 million if he performs well.

This is the single biggest reason we need a rookie salary cap.

They're playing him fifty million and he hasn't even played in a goddamn game!

I have never understood why people get all up in arms with these decisions.
Bradford didn't hold out of camp.
He has been very respectful, and made his money.
If a team/company is willing to pay the money...let them pay it.
Would you be up in arms if your boss wanted to pay you a ton of money for doing a good job?

Yeah, I kinda thought the same thing. If it were Jimmy we'd be saying good for him.

the main reason is there are veteran players that deserve it way more than any rookie, of course i would take any money my boss would pay.

but that's not the main reason, alot of 1st rounders amount to nothing so teams waist all that money, when they could be spending it on some one that has deserved it

If it were Jimmy i'd be sayin oh crap they just gave jimmy 50 million dollars... but seriously they need to cut down on that, would u give your 21 year old son 50 million to throw around? I understand Bradford is a very responsible kid, but really?? He'd better win and win fast!

I understand the "team concept" where people think these veterans should make more than rookies...but when it all comes down to it the teams put up the money. They know how much money Bradford is going to bring in just through tickets and merchandising that it really wont hurt them in the long run. When was the last time a veteran offensive lineman or someone of that nature brought in that kind of fan support?Just an example.

Good for Sam, but I don't think he is going to pan out. This is just my personal opinion. He has a wealth of talent, but I'm just going with my gut. I have nothing to really put towards my argument other than that, and the shoulder injuries, but plenty of players recover from college injuries to have a solid pro career.

the thing is, is if bradford comes in and is a huge bust, the team made a season or 2 worth of maybe 4-5 million off of merchandise and thats it, where as if you had some of those millions to Peyton Manning, Steve Smith, Tom Brady or any other veteran that can take a team to the Super Bowl, the team will make alot more money than a one hit wonder (if thats what they turn out to be, in alot of cases)

That is on the Rams for gambling of draft day too. They could have easily gone with a safer pick.

But I do agree the NFL should do something like the NBA rookie salary where x amount of guaranteed money is paid so players will be set for life. Players work hard in college to get that money but $50 is way overpaid where as 4yrs/20mil with incentives seems reasonable for number one overall.

regardless of the debate this will bethe last time a player gets this kind of money as a rookie... that will be one of the big issues in the new deal for sure.

And I thought the Raiders paid Russell alot of $. His contract is nearly worth the value of the Browns team.

Good thread to ask as I don't know any Eagles fan IRL but I'm interested in some feedback. Due to all the changes that were made, some saying unnecessarily, is this a make or break year for Chip Kelly? If so, what is that number of wins?

The reason I ask is because from the outside looking in, I'd be insanely pissed if this team doesn't win 10 games after you just did but chose to blow up the team.

I think you are on the mark with 10 wins, and the City of Brotherly Love is not going to be in the mood for forgiveness if that does not happen. He warmed up his own seat and I think he burns if he does not get to 10 wins.

Nah unless they really bomb this year, like 3-13 bad I think he gets at least another year. I honestly don't know what to expect this year. I can easily see them pulling it all together especially if Bradford has a good year, but the Cowboys do look really good.

I understand some of Chip's moves but Foles for Bradford makes absolutely no sense to me.
