Joe Theismann, Notre Dame telecasts, a perfect fit - USATODAY.com
Seems like Joe is throwing his name in the hat to me.

Theismann would be a good choice. If not him then Bob Davie. I find him to be a lot better commentator than a football coach.
I love this thread...
my dad hates Theismann and deep down I know he dislikes ND...
up yours pops!!!

I agree with these notes but they will not hire a Notre Dame guy. Here is my choice based on class, enthusiasm, game knowledge, respect, and just a good man who would give an honest and appreciated presentation. This man does games now and you never would know where he went to school by his presentation. This man gets jacked up with energy and can be appropriately critical. I do not care for Ohio State at all but Chris Speilman would be excellent. The problem is he most likely would have to take a pay cut because its just 7 games and he likes doing college games no matter who's playing and the more games the better for him. I would hope that because of his family responsibilities this would be attractive to him. He would embrace Notre Dame for what Notre Dame is. Can you imagine him and Tony Roberts doing these games-it would be a blast.I don't understand why NBC, and particularly some of the fans, don't want someone with Notre Dame ties in the booth.
It's NOTRE DAME football on NBC...why wouldn't you want someone in there who is an alum?
This is all the more strange because 9 out of the 10 Irish alums who could be considered for the gig would do a better job than most, simply because of their connections and love for the school.
I don't think anyone like Golic or Bettis or anyone like that would even be that over the top pro-Irish anyway. Whovever goes in there will act like a professional.
It's just something I don't understand and I keep hearing it a lot from people. We're not selling journalism or news, so why the need to bow down to some lame objectivity? We're not selling college football either, really.
We're selling Notre Dame football on NBC...it seems like having someone with ties to the school would be a pretty good idea to me.

No matter what some opinions there are of Collinsworth as an ND guy he is a damn good broadcaster and if willing would a great fit IMO
If not Theisman or Bob Davie would be a good choice... to replace Hammond my choice is still Thom Brennaman but I am biased

I think there definitely needs to be someone with ND ties somewhere on the broadcast. If not in the booth, I would love to see a former player on the sidelines. Maybe Rocket on the sideline. I would love to see his exuberance and energy on the sideline comments.
I would like to see BGIF in the booth with NDinL.A. in color commentary and NeuteredDoomer on the sidelines. However, Neutered would probably be too busy eating the grass and trying to look up the cheerleaders skirts to have any comments on the game itself.
Does that make Neutered our version of Erin Andrews?
No because he is the one doing the peeping, not being peeped. Plus, Neutered is pretty blatant about it. He just walks up, sticks that red nose of his under their skirts, gets a peek at the goods and then poops. Quite disgusting actually.
