per Irish Illustrated... he said his plan is to take an unofficial visit to ND. Didn't give an exact date, but it looks like it would happen the week of July 26th.

Just watched this kid's video again, and I can see how he REALLY helped out Heaps. He has great hands and can get open for a WR without upper echelon speed.
I hope Coach Kelly is off of his vacation by the time Kasen comes to visit. It would be a shame to travel out that far on his own dime and not get to meet the coach.

He felt like he could see himself at ND. He liked the campus, ayers and coaches.
I really hope we get him.

We are in the hunt here for sure. I still think UW will be tough to beat, but we have a pretty decent shot.

Is there ever a report of someone not impressed with their visit to SB?

Serious question.

Yes, it happens more than you would think. Last year, Cody Riggs had the Irish #1, and everyone thought he'd commit at the spring game. Apparently he didn't have a good visit at all and the Irish were effectively out of it for him. Josh Shaw only had an OK trip, as we went from being his dream school growing up to not even being in his top 3. I remember a Penn State LB commit from last year (I suddenly forget his name...I think he was the kid who jumped out of the pool) had ND very high, but had a horrible meeting with Tenuta (the gift that keeps on giving!) and came away crossing ND off his list.

Mike Frank said recently that kids from the south either love the ND visits or they hate them. There is rarely an in-between. He said that the ones that hate it just don't have enough fun (read: strippers and whores).

So, ND isn't for everyone. And that's OK.

Not many in print but I recall reading acutal comments over the past 15 years of internet articles about "it's too cold", "the dorms rooms are small", "the stadium (ND fans) too quiet", "campus too small", "no coeds", not enough diversity "it was like my white high school", "no night life", "too many rules", "I don't want a religious school", "they make you study", and my favorite, " I didn't like the helmets, they're plain".

From this year only, the kid that sticks out to me the most in this regard is christion jones. Not that he hated it, but his response seemed to be pretty much "meh, it's too far from home."

So, yes it does happen, but the campus pretty much sells itself as we all know.

Yeah, I guess that makes sense. I'm just blinded to it I suppose. I can't imagine how anyone wouldn't get the same feeling I get when i walk on campus. ;)

I think Lou had it right

I think Lou had it right

I don't remember his exact words, but he basically said, If you understand it no words are necessary. If you don't get it no words are sufficient.

Recruiting Week in Review

by Joseph Bradshaw

7/27

Before the visit:

“Before I didn’t see myself there, but they’ve always been a good football team and they have a great tradition there”

After the visit:

After being there, my perspective has definitely changed. I could see myself fitting in. I liked the atmosphere. I liked the campus a lot. I liked the coaches.”

....

“He said you have the opportunity to play for a national championship and you’ll have the opportunity to get prepared for the next level and also grow as a person.”

ESPNU is showing last years

Oaks Christian vs. Skyline game from last year. Williams got hammered on the last play of the first half.
