Homerun derby today... I love that event... the game itself?? Every sports All Star games leave something to be desired imo, but this one is in the stadium I have spent large amounts of my life in... so pumped I am.


anyone care to bet who wins the derby?

no, I looked for tickets... 100 dollars plus a seat for nose bleeds... HR derby was only slightly less... I can watch on my 42 inch HD just fine at that price.

Oritz won, every round... by a lot.

So if the White Sox and the Braves play each other in the World Series and the Yankees end up finishing with the best record in the league, the White Sox get home field advantage?

u could just do the two teams involved and the best regular season record out of them.

if it decides home field the fans should not be the vote... at BEST tey should be 1/3 of the vote... they OFTEN get it wrong and just pick the biggest names...

AND you must get rid of this one player from every team garbage... it the game is gonna mean that much you can't have the fans screw it up and have players that don't belong simply because the jersey they wear.

aside from that I'm okay with it... though I would prefer the old way where it just rotates... that was the best way to do it considering the two leagues have different rules AND the difference in schedules.

btw, I like Swisher b/c o his swing... he and Papi have perfect swings for this competition and I think Swisher could hold up better over two plus hours. Perosnaly I have no clue why Mark H. is in this thing... love him as a player, but he is no home run derby guy.

Yes ,it has undergone FOUR renovations and three complete overhauls... I grew up with it being the home of the Rams as well AND being completely closed in as you can see with the replays of the 1990 All Star game that they'll show many times over the next 24 hours... it opened in 1966 if memory serves. Only Dodger stadium, Wrigley, and Fenway are older I believe and add the Sky Dome and you have the only parks built BEFORE Candem Yards started the whole retro thing... crazy considering when I was a kid Angel Stadium was one of the 'newer' parks.

sad to see open seats but we saw that in the upper decks of St Louis last year too... throw in New York and you have the three biggest hubs of baseball in the country between LA, St. Louis and NY so it aint the fans... obviously the economy must be at play here...

well, my guy is out, I took Swisher, but I thought really hard about taking Hart and only took Swish b/c as an Angel fan I know him much better...


oh and Will Ferrel is an idiot... I wonder if he even knows who Bobby Grich is(An absolute Angel legend btw)

Another side note... ESPN teams up with some independant agency every year and decides the best fan experince in sports and Angel Stadium has won the damn thing something like six years running... that's in all of SPORTS... not just baseball
