ESPN Write up:

High three-star safety Eilar Hardy (Pickerington, Ohio/Central) has pledged to sign with the Irish, ESPN's Bill Kurelic reports.

Hardy previously stated that Notre Dame, Michigan State, Cincinnati, Kentucky and Arizona were his top schools.

"He just committed to Notre Dame," Hardy's father Bill Hardy said. "I think he has talked to all of the Notre Dame coaches except Coach (Brian) Kelly. He might be on the phone with him right now. But it's official."

Wisconsin, Iowa, Illinois, West Virginia, Maryland, Indiana, Syracuse, Vanderbilt, Ohio and Kent State also offered.

Hardy intercepted three passes and scored four touchdowns during his junior campaign.

He is the 11th Class of 2011 commitment for Notre Dame.

Great joyous occasion really! Excellent opportunity for an equalizer!

Wait wrong sport...

I really am so jacked about Eilar coming onboard and going Irish! He'll be a great compliment.

For me, one of the biggest things about this commitment was that Tony Alford wasn't the lead recruiter - Tim Hinton was. As soon as I saw Hinton interviewed for the first time, I thought he would do incredibly well in living rooms of recruits. He's a blue-collar gentlemen filled with exuberance, and he seems to be a good salesman as well. Here's hoping he can land a couple more for us as well - Ohio needs to be one of our "home base" states.

I graduated from the high school that Eilar goes to. I am by no means a football scout, but I will make sure to catch a few of his games this year and let you guys know how he looks on the field.
