So I'm looking through my new catalog from the Hammes Bookstore and the ultra expensive, authentic replica jersey with the stitched patches has the interlocking "ND" on the sleeve once again. The description is "designed to match the on-field team jersey". That got me thinking that perhaps we're going back to the ND on the sleeve (which would kick ass) under Kelly. I know each coach has some leeway to make uniform changes so perhaps that is his.

You should think less. Charlie has multiple Super Bowl rings. He never accomplished much at the college level, but..... neither did Curly Lambeau, and I bet you wouldn't ask the same question about him?

I looked, and I can't say I liked them, they do look very plain. I hope they look better on the actual players.

I'm guessing Kelly is trying to go for the same look Holtz had for the bulk of his tenure, even going so far as having tiny ND logos on the sleeves.

In that regard, I like the look. I've always favored the ND on the sleeves instead of the TV numbers.

But, in this day and age of HD television, I think the new uniforms do look a little too plain, don't you think? I think I was expecting something flashier, but flashy in a good way.

My biggest problem is that we've taken away the TV numbers and added the ND on the sleeves, but also taken away the ND on the collar. So there's a net loss of stuff on the jersey.

All we'd have to do is move that stupid Adidas logo to the right and put the leprechaun at the collar and these uniforms would be the best ever.

Get rid of the "Irish" script and American flag and that is the jersey I'd want. Even the pants have a sweet green shamrock.

OH yea i agree i would really like to see the shamrock or dome on the collar instead of the Adidas, my favorite were the ones with the dome in the 90s and early 2000s and the one you had with quinn ( but not the road ones in that quinn era)

I'm not so sure the names will be on their jerseys.

I think that ND is right where most teams place the names. If they do have names, I think it will go where that ND is and maybe that ND is just a placeholder for a name.

But then again, look at the stitching for the sleeves. They come in at such an angle that it leaves me to believe they don't intend on putting names on the back...

I hope they keep the names off. I think Kelly will keep them off to because he has pushed the "all is one" theme since starting. Names on the Jerseys is make them too much about the player and not enough about the team. Lou was a big one for this and I love the no name...

The ND is gone from the back and I highly doubt we'll see name plates back there either.

The under shirt with logo doesn't seem to be a possibility either. I originally heard that it might be the case but also had some reservations on how it would work visually. As you can see, there isn't any room for a logo in the neck area for most players.

That picture from that blog was taken from my article on the new uniforms on B/R and was deceiving. It's on a female model and doesn't look normal.

I think they made some tweaks to the uniform and took the ND off the back probably after getting a lot of negative feedback about it.

The jerseys on sale at und.com and the bookstore are what was worn in the fantasy camp a couple weeks ago. I doubt we'll see any changes, but you never know.

It kind of sucks because first of all, why didn't the school have an official press conference for new uniforms? I want to buy a jersey but what if they do end up making a change within the next couple months. I thought Kelly would promote these for sure, but it hasn't happened yet.

The ND blue looked like black last year. didnt look right. I could care less about the uniforms lets get back to our winning ways. Then they could wear Pink for all I care......Although I think Neutered Doomer may like that !!

I think this might help with recruiting, but as a fan I am against it. I like to think of it as a team and not an individual playing on the field. Although, it would probably help those who are not familiar with ND and the players, most fans already know the names with the numbers.

In 1963, when fall semester started, the freshmen had to rush over to get their helmets. There were only sixteen plastics available. Joe Azzaro, a walk-on kicker at the time, got a plastic helmet and there was a lot of bitching. The big recruits who didn't get there early had to practice in the old Johnny Lattner leather helmets. The football program was getting an eye dropper of $$$ at the time. Now you guys want stripes and strobe lights!

Does anyone know what brand of jock strap the team uses? I'm currently in the market for a new Jock because my hog has out grown my previous support strap. I would feel like I"m more part of the team if I could sport the same jock at the gym that the Irish football team wears.

First off, perhaps you should think before you post. That was rude. Secondly, I am serious...why the hell would Charlie Weis's sig be on that? "Irish Legends" is what the piece is being billed as and I would never consider Charlie an Irish legend. How could anyone say that with a straight face? He didn't do anything here...no signature wins, no Heisman winners, no NC's. He was an average coach at best and suddenly he's on this piece of expensive memorabilia with real legends? They should give out a discount on the item because his sig is on there. It's not Charlie bashing, it's just the truth. Would you think the same thing if this piece of memorabilia had Ty Willingham and Bob Davie's sigs on there? What would be the point?

I would place the lil lep where that obnoxious Adidas logo is. Adidas has NO PLACE on the ND jersey. NONE. It's more than enough that all coaching staff and sideline folk wear and blare everything Adidas. Let the uniform be clean and all ND. We can see the frickin stripes on the team shoe.
